Tim Story talks Galactus

According to Tim Story's MySpace page, you can expect to see planet eating Galactus in the upcoming Fantastic Four film.

Story writes:

Hey guys,

There's a lot going on. I've been seeing the billboards going up and hopefully you have all seen the TV spot. I thought it turned out well. I've been checking the web to see what people think. Always good to check in. There are still those that can't give us a break but whadayagonnado?! Haters! Wow. And to the many that have been emailing in such support - Thank you. The emails do not go unread. Hopefully I can make YOU and MYSELF proud!

There continues to be much speculation about Galactus. Major speculation. We haven't finished the design of him/it so be careful about what you read and believe. Trust me...no one knows. One things for sure, you can expect to see him/it. It will be pretty powerful. I'm having a lot of fun with the concept and believe me - MOST will be satisfied.

Doom? Oh he's coming. Just wait. Classic look! And we definitely touch on his roots in the film. We're working long hours to make it right.

Sorry I've been so quiet! Talk to you soon.
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer hits theaters June 15th.

KJ's Take:  Why am I letting my hopes raise for this film?  I hated the first one, yet still I'm getting sucked into Fantastic Four fever ... I think it's because I really WANT it to rock.

My suggestion for those who hated the first film but want to enjoy the second?
Pick out what you DID like about the first one - (JM as Doom, Evan's take as Johnny, how hot Jessica always is . . .), forget what you hated, realize how cool the SFX are for this (c'mon, the Surfer looks awesome), geek out that you are gonna see Galactus on the big screen . . .

then keep your expections at the "popcorn flick with no dramatic nor artistic value whatsoever" level and I can almost guarantee you'll have a great time!

Always works for me.

Good advice, Merin. I actually kind of liked the first one once I actually saw it. I waited for DVD and let a friend pay to rent it because my expectations were so low. I still don't really think you can make a GOOD Fantastic Four movie...I just think the basic concept is too hokey. A scientist, a pilot, and 2 teenagers are in space for some reason, and they get bombarded with cosmic radiation...come on, did Ed Wood come up with this concept? However, because my expectations were entirely lowered, it actually surpassed my expectations. Now that I'm used to the tone of the first movie, I think I'll be able to enjoy this one even more. I'm just glad they were able to use the Surfer. Just a few years ago a different studio had the rights to the Silver Surfer, and were planning on making a SS movie. And while we're on the subject of superhero movies, was anybody aware that a few years ago another studio also had the rights to "Venom", and that they were planning on making a "Venom" movie with ABSOLUTELY no ties to Spider-Man?! How stupid would that have been?

I really enjoyed the 1st movie. Granted Doom seemed kinda weak. But I liked the disfunctional family situation that they created with the FF. Especially between Johnny and the Thing. That was just fun. Who didn't enjoy seeing the Thing squash that sports car into a wad. I look forward to the 2nd movie.

What can you say...the first one was ok and though I did not like it at first it eventualy got ahold of me and I take it for what it is, a good popcorn movie...I hope this one does alot more that the first and I think it will but that is hope speaking...

I really wish this will be good. But if the Surfer says anything close to "radical" or "gnarly", I will walk out of the theatre.

How can he say they are going into von Doom's "roots" in this film? I thought Doom's origins were pretty much solidified in the first? And what is Classic look? He looked pretty classic to me in the scene with his hood on minus the silly voice...

Gotta hand it to you Merin, that is some sweet advice, and pretty darn accurate. I walked into the theatre to see the FF still on a Spiderman 2, x2, Batman begins high expecting the FF to somehow fall into one of those categories, but it doesn't so I was dissapointed. But then when I watched it again I loved it... very strange... but I did. It doesn't take itself as seriously as others in the genre, and it was a lot of fun. We all could be way off but every time Tim Story steps up to speak he seems to be saying, hey guys, for those of you who loved FF this is for you, and for those of you that had problems with FF, here's what we should have gave ya..... love him or hate him, that takes nuts.... and if nothing else secures my ass in a seat. Ya don't see any of these other ass clowns working this hard to give the fans what they want, let's just hope it works.

I liked the comedy of the first and overall liked it.
I'm looking forward to this even though I think the idea is not right for movies. We'll see. I'll be there opening weekend.

It can't be worse than X-men 3. I'm still waiting for Bryan Singer to come back and fix *that* franchise.

I keep stamping my expectations back down everytime they get raised when I see the Surfer in action. I didn't think the first one was horrific, but neither did I think it was a good movie. I'm gonna take Merin's suggestion...take what I liked from the first one with me, and keep my expectations at the "popcorn flick with no dramatic nor artistic value whatsoever" level.
