Screenwriter/novelist Alex Garland (28 DAYS LATER, THE BEACH) has sold a new work to Working Title Films, the British-based film production company that has a deal with Universal Pictures. Garland's latest screenplay is called TIME KEEPERS and involves elements of fantasy as well as a pair of kids, two hot commodities that Hollywood has been on the hunt for recently.
Garland's script involves two boys that discover magic is a real thing and not make believe. Along their path to discovery the pair also find out that they have an important destiny awaiting them in the affairs of the world. Ah, J.K. Rowling, see what you have spawned?
Variety tries to put its box office analysis spin on things by describing TIME KEEPERS as "a scarier, modern update" of THE GOONIES.
