A year after Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes announced their plans to reboot the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise and set writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway to flesh out the story, Deadline is reporting the studio has brought in some scribes for a rewrite.

The online trade says that Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec (Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol) has been tapped for some rewrites though the report doesn't go into detail as to whether this is a full rewrite---meaning the studio is going a different direction---or whether they're simply touching upon the blueprint left by Marcum and Holloway.

Much like New Line's recent reboots of Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street, this live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot is being produced by Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.

I actually enjoyed the last TMNT cgi film. Guess it didn't make enough bank for them to continue that specific turn at the franchise.

I thought the cgi version was great.  But you're probably right, Wise.  Not enough bank.  I'm not sure how I feel about another rubber suit go around.

Would they dare go the cgi route for the turtles. A live action/cgi mix. I'm not opposed to either way but if they go back to real costumes they better be damn good.

So they are going to reboot road with this. Well, not too bad.

Last i heard, they are doing the live action CGI movie no?

SarcasticCaveman 6/8/2011 9:27:58 AM

That's what I heard too, violator...well, that's what they were looking at a few years ago when John Woo was rumored to be involved with the project.  I also enjoyed the TMNT the scene with the little monster tearing up the diner.

Eh, not really into this - maybe a few years ago. My kid has outgrown TMNT so there will be no request to see this in my house.

How many reboots is this now? Three? Let it go.

 reboot shmeeboot.

I am all for some Turtle Power reboot!  They made giant cgi robots look real in movies like Transformers and Terminator.  How much more complicated can some mutated turtles be.  (Granted they get a good budget)

Though, I am hoping for a little bit darker version this time around.
