It looks like the adaptation of Max Brooks' World War Z and the date of December 21st won't share a apocalyptic theme. Despite the Brad Pitt-led vehicle being set aside for the infamous Mayan date, Paramount Pictures has pushed the project back half a year. It will now be striking theaters on June 21, 2013, a mere week after Warner Bros. Pictures unleashes Zack Snyder's Man of Steel (June 14).
With the "Z" day shifting backwards, the studio has inserted their planned adaptation of the Jack Reacher novel series---One Shot---into the December 21, 2012 release window. That film will star Tom Cruise, Rosamund Pike, David Oyelowo, Richard Jenkins, Alexia Fast, Robert Duvall, Jai Courtney and Werner Herzog.
Paramount has also given a release date for the next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles adventure. Produced by Michael Bay and Brad Fuller's Platinum Dunes, the studio believes it will bank the most cash with a release on the holiday of December 25, 2013. Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans) is likely set at the helm. Writers Josh Appelbaum, Andrew Nemec, Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and John Fusco all played a part in the scripting process.
