How to Make Fake Blood for a Movie

By Robin Hewitt     -

Overview

If you're into making your own movies, sooner or later you're going to need blood. No two ways about it: Someone in the script is bound to get cut, maimed or murdered, and if you want it to look realistic, ketchup is not a viable alternative.
You'll be relieved to learn that it's not too difficult to whip up a batch of fake blood, and you may already have the ingredients in your kitchen cupboards.
Batch of Fake Blood

Step 1

Mix the corn syrup, red and blue food colorings together until the colors are fully blended.

Step 2

Add 1 tbsp. water and stir until the fake blood reaches a smooth consistency.

Step 3

Apply liberally to all wounds, bites and slash marks.
