Tobin Bell lives on in "Saw" 4 and 5

According to MovieHole, Tobin Bell has confirmed that he will be reprising his role as Jigsaw in the horror sequels, Saw 4 and 5.

This news comes despite the fact that Bell's character appeared to have died at the end of the third film.

"There are three or four scenes in 'Saw III' that seem very innocuous and benign, but when you see 'Saw IV' and they flash back to those, they have a whole different meaning," said producer Oren Koules.  "We shot scenes for 'Saw III', knowing they'd be in 'IV.' We knew what we wanted to do for 'IV' so we actually shot scenes for 'III' but tried to make them very innocent scenes that didn't really make sense, but when it comes back, it's a huge part about 'Saw IV.'"

Filming on Saw 4 gets underway in April.

KJ's Take:  I'm trying to remember what scenes they could be referring to, but can't seem to figure it out.  I had thought that Bell would have already accounted for his own death and launched a new game upon his death, but it seems I was wrong.

IMPOSSIBLE! Jigsaw not only admitted to breathing his dying breath in the 3rd movie, but also got his throat buzz sawed open …. How do you survive from that ESPECIALLY when he is immobile and the room is locked SHUT! These will be stupid movies. The first one SUCKED … the second one kept me guessing and the third one entertained me long enough for me to gasp, and cringe, but none of them are really any good. So I have NO idea how they can make 2 more sequels. This one should be about a way for Jeff to get his daughter back, Jigsaw launching another game demised of two different endings (one being if Jeff killed him, and the other if Jeff let him live.) But these next two will not make sense!!!!

Well, I guess I won't bother renting the 3rd tonight..... I liked the first two for what they were, it ain't Shakespear folks.

They're referring to the scene where Jigsaw is filming that blonde and he says "I love you." If you really watch SAW III that flashback did just come out of nowhere and it had nothing to do with the story. I figured that they'd use that for the sequel... good planning nonetheless. You can't say other horror movies have that foresight and consideration for future sequels.

I thought the first one was very creative, the second one pretty good, and though the third one showed signs of the series waning I still liked it.
If they planned it ahead of time (I'll take them at their word) I'm up for another.

I agree with most of this, it is fun entertainment, fairly well done genre work and beats alot of the other stuff out there. I thought for awhile that it would continue without Bell, but that made me lose interest. With him back, it does keep me somewhat interested.

A Saw movie wouldn't be the same without the raspy voice saying "I want to play a game." The movies all made a ton of money, and they were pure dreck for the most part. So it goes without saying that he'll be back, and todays audience is so STUPID (really, I am embarrassed for America) that they probably forgot that he died in part three. The could say, "oh, Jugsaw made a dummy up to look like himself and switched out at the last second" or "he took a dead body and made it up to look like himself". The point is that todays viewers are dumb as rocks, almost to the point of making me cry.

It makes sense that Jigsaw will appear in flashback scenes for the new movies, since he died in the last one. Maybe there'll be a prequel movie coming soon, like Hannibal Rising. Jigsaw as a young boy where he learned how to do those terrible things to people.
