Academy Award-winning director Peter Jackson has been tapped for an exclusive interview in RINGERS: LORD OF THE FANS, a new documentary examining the fans of J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy books. Directed by first-time writer/director Carlene Cordova, the film is being executive produced by Tom DeSanto (the two X-MEN films, DreamWorks' upcoming live-action TRANSFORMERS movie) and will also cover Jackson's successful trilogy of LORD OF THE RINGS films and the impact the movies have had on Tolkien's worldwide fanbase.
The feature will include interviews with nearly all of the RINGS actors including Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Domimic Monaghan, Billy Boyd, Viggo Mortensen, Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis, John Rhys-Davies, Sala Baker and John Noble, as well as co-screenwriter Philippa Boyens and producer Barrie Osborne. Other celebrities and influential names from the world of fandom appearing in the film include: author Clive Barker, director Cameron Crowe, actor David Carradine, fantasy authors Terry Pratchett and Terry Brooks, Tolkien scholar Dr. Jane Chance, musicians Geddy Lee and Lemmy Kilmister, publisher Forrest J. Ackerman, illustrators Colleen Doran and Jill Thompson, and film critic Elvis Mitchell. The film is being produced in association with TheOneRing.net, one of the leading independent Tolkien websites on the net.
