Tom Cruise joins Bryan Singer's WWII thriller

According to Variety, Tom Cruise will star in director Bryan Singer's upcoming WWII thriller.

The film, which will be produced bu United Artists, is based on actual events, as German generals hatch a scheme to assassinate Adolph Hitler at the height of WWII.

United Artists partners Cruise and Wagner acquired the Singer film last week, making it the revamped studio's second production commitment since they took over the down trodden studio.

The film will be shot just before Singer starts filming his sequel to Superman Returns.

KJ's Take:  Say what you want about Tom Cruise, but he is one hell of an actor, an incredibly bankable star, and seems to be defying the odds and doing a fine job running a studio.

LOL, I highly doubt Tom Cruise was the top person for the role, gotta agree with KJ, though, Tom Cruise is a great actor. I for one thought MI:III was great because of him. Same goes with WOTW and TLS...

This movie should be great. Looking foward to it.

Sorry, I just can't get beside that statement that Tom Cruise is a great actor. He's capable, good at best. I thought MI:III was great because of Phillip Seymour Hoffman. The dude was a great bad guy. So first Singer makes a horrible Superman flick, and now he's working with (and I'll admit, there may be other people up for this role, but not many!) the craziest fucker in Hollywood...whatever.

I've enjoyed Tom Cruise's performance in several films and agree with KJ.

I'm curious to see what role he'll take for this.

Its amazing how fickle people are. Tom Cruise maybe a nutjob but he is a damn fine actor. He is way more than "capable". Some one list me 3 other actors in the last 20 years at his age who have done a better job on screen and had such a body of work?
There are definitely crazier people in Hollywood. You can throw a rock and hit 20 crazy people walking down any street in L.A.

I am also pretty curious to to see what role he`ll have in this.

They did this already with a Dirty dozen movie. I guess it's old enough to ignore.

Well ultimately, you know how this ends. There have been some critically acclaimed Hitler bio films over the past several years, so this one seems unnecessary.

Superman Returns wasn't horrible. Room for improvement, for sure. in one word, I could prove it was decent:

Schumacher.

Tom Cruise needs to catch a clue about life, BUT, he does make good movies, and I personally don't give a shit if he worships a benign tumor removed from an amputee midget hookers tit.....thats his business. Just shut the EFF up and mkae movies,,,,that's all I want him to do. Just curious, I am the only one that thinks Tom Cruise is like Mark Walhberg in that he is the same person in every role?

Must resist urge ... to... take ... cheap shots.... at Tom.... Cruise..... losing control.... can't stop.... must resist !!!..
Anywho, Tom is a NUTJOB, and is a fine actor, and anyone who thinks he isn't is nuttier than he is... it's just fun to make fun of celebrities.... it's like poking the homeless.... it's wrong, but so sweet.... Just look at Interview with a Vampire... I mean who won the oscar for best actor that year, I can't remember, Cruise wasn't even nominated, and he should of won it... It was awesome. This whole idea sounds like it could be pretty sweet, maybe Cruise will be Hitler.
