For fans of Dan Brown’s Robert Langdon movie series, the wait is over. Sure you probably have already read Brown’s "Inferno", but now you get to see it on the big screen. Sony Entertainment has locked down both Tom Hanks, for Robert Langdon, and Ron Howard, to direct, Inferno. reported the story. Brian Grazer will producer and David Koepp will pen the script.

Synopsis: “In Inferno, Langdon awakens in an Italian hospital with amnesia. He teams up with Sienna Brooks, the doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories and prevent a madman from releasing a global plague connected to Dante’s Inferno”.

If you are a fan of the Robert Langdon book series, you probably already know the obvious fact. Yes, they are skipping over the third book The Lost Symbol.

Filming begins this April.

Inferno is scheduled to arrive December 18th, 2015.

WAIT... what? Sony Pictures and Imagine Entertainment are releasing the picture on the same day as Disney’s Star Wars: Episode VII. Now I can appreciate counter programming, but are they crazy? However, if I was to throw anything at Star Wars, even to make the slightest attempt at counter programming, I would put Tom Hanks in it and have one hell of director at the helm. At least Sony got that those two things right. Expect the release date to move up or move back for Inferno.

 Who cares?

The first two movies were so bad that Rotten Tomatoes would give a Certified Fresh rating to an announcement that no further sequels were going to be made.

I'm totally up for this.  I enjoyed the first two (tho not his haircut).  Bring it on.

I guess you can count me as one of those that just cannot get excited about this, of course a good trailer and good word of mouth might sway me to go and check it out, at the red box that is....

I borrowed Da Vinci Code (the book) from my sister a few months ago.  It was ok, but I've definitely read better books.  I don't get why so many people were creaming themselves over that shit when it was first out.  I remember being on a plane years ago when that book was super popular and I must have seen half a dozen people in my immediate vicinity reading it.

Putting this up against Star Wars ep. 7? The stupidity is strong with the Sony executives. What to you do you expect from the company that butchered Spiderman. No wonder the Sony entertainment division is spitting distance from bankruptcy.  It's still just Columbia Pictures with the Sony name slapped on it.

Inferno was a horrible book. Boring. If they want to make one of his books into a movie they should think about Deception Point which was a lot more interesting and dealt with NASA and had some cool locales to explore.
