Tom Hanks set for POLAR EXPRESS

The film adaptation of POLAR EXPRESS, Chris Van Allsberg's popular holiday children's book, will feature Tom Hanks starring as the train conductor, VARIETY reports. Robert Zemeckis has been working with William Broyles, writer of CAST AWAY, on the script.

Tentatively scheduled for release in the 2004 holiday season, February is the projected start date for the project. The article also has Hanks following POLAR EXPRESSwith a lead in the Joel and Ethan Coen remake of the 1955 comedy, LADYKILLERS.
