Tony Kaye to direct "Black Water Transit"

It sounds a lot like The Departed...I think this one will be good as well.

I'm a huge Willis fan, a huge Jackson fan and an even bigger AHX fan... this sounds sweet.

Yeah, I`m all for it. American History X was a really good movie. And it`ll be great to see Sam and Bruce together in another flick.

American History X was great because of Edward Norton. Tony Kaye is a hack who seems to think that directing commercials makes him both the best living filmmaker today and the most important filmmaker since Alfred Hitchcock. Either of those he ain't.

Tony Kaye left American History X unfinished and Ed Norton took the director's chair to finish the movie.
Tony Kaye also says that he wanted to be removed from the titles of the film (that's before it was a hit...).
I agree with BryanWay, Tony Kaye is a hack.
He came to Buenos Aires to shoot a commercial a couple of years ago and all the people who worked there that I know said that he was a complete moron.

TRUE FACTS:

Tony Kaye never left America History X. The movie was fully filmed and edited, then the producers and Edward Norton came on board and decided to re-edit the movie (source: docummentary about fake directors name from HBO or something) because Edward didn't like how it was edited and he wanted to be more present in the movie (all of this is official). Once re-editing was finished in the movie we all know, Tony gratiously ask that his name doesn't appear as director since all that he had done, filmed and edited as a director was undone, changed without his consent and then imposed as final product. From then, he was given the possiblity of putting a fake name as director (very common in hollywood, not much these days since now everyone knows about this underground ritual and it gives bad press to a movie) but the names he choose were too stupid and obvious (he wanted Humpty Dumpty or something like that, to obviously make it official that he had nothing to do with American History X). So, before you people judge tony Kaye, make sure you have all the facts straight, he is good, and he can do really good if given the opportunity.

Also, think about it. If you direct a movie, your vision, your photography, your ''feelings'' on a screen and then, someone takes it all out and completelly changes what you had intended? Wouldn't you want your name of something you didn't do?

It doesn't make him any less of an egotist. Documentaries don't make anything official, by the way. Just read up on the history of 'Nanook Of The North', it's been nothing but forgery since then. Besides, if the version the producers and Norton edited was that good, how much better could his version have been? I'm all about directors having final cut, but not when they're wrong about what to do what the material or when they only care about their own input, as Kaye clearly does.

"American History X" was a good film...but it wasn't the film Kaye intended after Ed Norton edited it to give himself more screentime.

He's an a**hole, period.
People I know worked with him, he's all about trying to get the attention of everyone instead of working on the project.
Working with directors is my bread and butter, and as far I know, this guy for what my colleagues tell me, knows crap about directing and behaving like a pro in a set (besides, the commercial ended up looking like crap).
Quit it people, Tony Kaye and his ego need to be brought down to earth before they let him direct again.
