Where's The Omega Man? Soylent Green? Dark Star?
What about The Andromeda Strain? THAT is truly one of the greatest of ALL-TIME, let alone of the 1970's, IMHO!

And last, but not least, what about Logan's Run? Bad ass movie, and still a great deal of fun to watch! Another of my all-time faves!!!
What are some of you thinking? The Godfather films, the Warriors, and Blazzing Saddles as great as they are obviously cannot belong on this list because those films AREN'T GENRE!!! HELLO!!! To each his/her own but I'm just saying...let's stay on topic shall we! Overall, this isn't a bad list but there are a few that don't belong. Enter the Dragon is a martial arts movie and Monty Python is a comedy so neither should be here! In my opinion, the two that should replace them are definitely Suspiria and perhaps Duel or THX-1138 or Logan's Run. I also would have the Exorcist(because it's way scarier and had more of a cultural impact)ranked ahead of both Alien and Jaws;as great as they are. I may have ranked Superman higher as well because to me that's still the very best overall superhero movie and it has been for a very long time! Eaglemaniac,I too love The Omega Man,The Andromeda Strain and Logan's Run but I'm not sure they belong in a top 10 list, maybe a top 20.
I made one huge mistake! In my opinion the two films that should replace the misplaced Enter the Dragon and Monty Python are Suspiria like I said above and Dawn of the Dead! How can I forget about that one and how can anyone else!
My top 10 genre films of the 1970's are:
10.The Omen
9.A Clockwork Orange
8.Dawn of the Dead
7.Suspiria
6.Nosferatu:The Vampire
5.Jaws
4.Alien
3.Superman:The Movie
2.The Exorcist
1.Star Wars
Halloween I'd have at #11 and Close Encounters would be at #12.
I would ad: In The Realm Of The Senses, Coffy, Thriller A Cruel Picture, Vampyres, Sex & Fury, Lady Snowblood, Mahogany, Lady Sings The Blues and The Greatest.
Perfect list for the 70's. Seen em all love em all.
