TOP 10 Movies: The big green money machine
By: Patrick SauriolDate: Monday, June 23, 2003
Ang Lee's psychological drama about an emotionally repressed scientist scarred by childhood trauma...I mean, that superhero movie about a big green monster known as THE HULK...that movie took top spot at the weekend box office this past weekend. Ang's (no relation to Stan Lee) film grossed an estimated $62.6 million dollars, the highest June opening to date. It's also another number one debut for a Marvel movie.
FINDING NEMO continues to prove it has the legs -- I mean, fins -- to stay afloat. The Disney/Pixar film came in second place followed by 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS in third, BRUCE ALMIGHTY in fourth and THE ITALIAN JOB in fifth. ALEX AND EMMA, another new film, came in seventh. Proving that there may in fact be a supreme being looking out for us, the AMERICAN IDOL spinoff movie FROM JUSTIN TO KELLY debuted in eleventh place with just $2.8 M.
Here's the list of last weekend's top grossing films, their weekend gross and the film's total gross to date:
1. THE HULK $62,600,000 $62,600,000
2. FINDING NEMO $20,500,000 $228,000,000
