TOP 10: RIDDICK vs. HARRY POTTER. Guess which one wins?

The kid with glasses kicked the ex-con with goggles this weekend at the box office. According to studio estimates Warner Bros. third HARRY POTTER film took in about $35 million dollars from Friday to Sunday. That's about a 62% drop in receipts from the picture's opening weekend, but still more than enough to eclipse THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, Universal's space opera actioner which opened with an estimated $24.6 M. Unofficial sources peg the budget for RIDDICK at around $200 M, which would mean the film made only one-eighth of its budget so far. Still, if the picture can manage to not drop off as much as HARRY POTTER did, the possibility for a sequel to CHRONICLES may still come true.

In third spot was DreamWorks' SHREK 2 which added another $24 M to its take, bringing its total to $354 M and counting. On Saturday the movie pushed past FINDING NEMO's total domestic box office earnings ($339.8 M), making the SHREK sequel now the highest-grossing animated picture of all time -- in just 25 days.

Fourth and fifth spot are held by another two new films, THE STEPFORD WIVES and GARFIELD: THE MOVIE. The amount separating the two films is about half-a-million dollars, so they might switch places when the final tallies are released on Monday.

THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW and TROY are still performing well for their owners and Paramount's MEAN GIRLS is still hanging in there at tenth overall. VAN HELSING has slipped to eleventh position now with $1.1 M in receipts (total $116.9 M) and SUPER SIZE ME is in thirteenth overall ($844K, total $7.5 M.)

On Wednesday this week we'll see Walt Disney Pictures release AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS, and then on Friday comes DODGEBALL: A TRUE UNDERDOG STORY and THE TERMINAL. How will Harry fare from the new competition?

Here are the estimated box office receipts of the top ten films from June 11 through to June 13, with their weekend gross and the movie's total domestic gross to date:

1. HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN $35,069,000 $158,134,000
