The summer is officially over for your Toy Maniac. I know that Labor Day is a few days away yet the summer movies are done and now we can turn our attention to the fall. It started off great with plenty of Iron Man 2 toys and some new Star Wars figures here and there. Some of you rushed out for those The Last Airbender toys and well… All I can say is if you loved the series they are now on sale. August was an awesome month as finally most of what debuted at Toy Fair 2010 finally hit the shelves. Without further eloquence here is Mania’s Top 10 Toys of the Summer of 2010.
10. Venture Bros Henchman 21 & 24 Action Figures

An Entertainment Earth and Comic Con Exclusive which has that perfect mix of old school toy and kitsch that make it a must have. They are a perfect dynamic duo to protect your desk or battle your old MECO dolls.
9. Keldor

Mattel’s Skeletor before he was Skeletor sold out on the very first day, much to this collector’s frustration. I have every faith in Mattel that he will return. He has to, I keep telling myself, but when?
8. Thor Figure(s)

The movie is still months away but this summer we had a SDCC exclusive (right) and a modern Thor (left) hitting the shelves. May 2011 cannot get here soon enough.
7. Buzz Lightyear

Pixar took their characters out on the right note and once again assured us they know exactly how movies should be made. This incredible 12 inch Buzz Lightyear buries his predecessor’s. It is the only Buzz worth getting.
6.Orko and Prince Adam

The presale for this Comic Con exclusive sold out in 3 minutes. Again on the floor at San Diego they sold out again. Thankfully Mattel put a few more up and sold him out yet again. It now says “gone for good” on MattyCollector. Let’s just see how long he’ll stay gone for.
5. Star Wars The Vintage Collection

11 amazing figures to take you back to being a kid all over again. Each has a new sculpt, but to be honest it is difficult to open these when you look at them directly. They are just so damn perfect.
4. Mo-Larr vs. Skeletor

It didn’t sell out as fast as I thought it would but it is an incredible and goofy set of figures to have. I keep waiting for Hasbro to get on the Robot Chicken band wagon. I think and Admiral Ackbar with his cereal is long overdue.
3.Starro the Conqueror

This one I don’t understand but I have never been a big old school DC Universe fan. Sorry but it is true. What I couldn’t ignore were the Starro masks at Comic Con and the craziness for this figure. According to MattyCollector he is “gone for good”. This makes this toy collector regret at least not picking one up.
2. The New AT-AT Walker

It is difficult to give this the number two. There was a promise of the old school packaging promised at Toy Fair and that version is still not available. That alone causes it to lose the number one spot. The sheer size of it puts it on the list.
1. Galactus

He was a huge hit at Comic Con. Now if only he would start to appear in the stores. The simple fact that he stands at 19 inches tall earns him the number one spot. Though that box and brilliant sculpt helps too. All hail Galactus!
I want that Galactus! Awesome!
