I would add one more title to this list - the sadly neglected 1971 Chuck Jones animated film, also starring Alistair Sim as Scrooge - it has marvelous atmosphere, is intelligently edited, and great voice talent. You can find it on YouTube. Of the films I would replace on this list, either the Magoo (too slight, poor animation) or the Albert Finney (his performance as "old" Scrooge is just painful to watch), or yes, the Jim Carrey version, which is atrocious.

I dont see the logic of leaving out Scrooged, it has the same story and moral.  Including the Muppets version is no different imo.  What is different from Gonzo and Fozzie hamming it up than Carol Kane and Bobcat Goldthwait doing the same.

Regarding the 1938 version, June Lockhart was also in the film.  She played one of the Cratchit children.  Mrs. Cratchitt, if I recall correctly, was also played by June's mother.

My favorite is Rich Little's.  I also like the one with Fonzie.

Yeah, Scrooged needs to be in there.  Top 5.  Murray was fantastic.  Genius, IMO.

Scrooged is overrated.

Ok...I mentioned films like Scrooged, Black Adder's Christmas Carol, and American Christmas Carol (with Henry winkler) were NOT included because they are not TRUE adaptations of the film.  They do not feature the same character names, setting, and plots...thus they are considered Parodies.  Like it or not the Muppets Christmas Carol DOES keep the character names, the Victorian England setting, and plot.  Sheesh!  and whomever said it is right...Scrooged is overrated anyway.

Eye of harmony...yes you are right...June Lockhart did play one of the Cratchit daughters in an uncredited role.

The Muppets version is great, though when I was a kid the ghost of christmas past scared me.

Apparently people don't actually read the entire articles on this site, just the list.....LOL.
