TOP 12: INCREDIBLES over EXPRESS
By: Patrick SauriolDate: Monday, November 15, 2004
THE INCREDIBLES held on to the number one spot at the box office this past weekend -- and it had an incredibly surprising staing power with audiences. The Pixar/Disney family movie took in an estimated $51 million dollars in the past three days, pushing its accumulated total to $144 M and climbing. Compared to its opening weekend, THE INCREDIBLES box office take dropped an astonishingly small 27%, showing this film has some strong legs to last the holiday season on.
The next four films in the top 12 are all new fare. THE POLAR EXPRESS, Warners' competition to THE INCREDIBLES, took in $23 M which is probably less than the WB execs were hoping for. New Line's AFTER THE SUNSET was also a little weak with just $11 M. Universal's BRIDGET JONES sequel drew enough viewers to earn it $8.8 M which turned out to be almost as popular as Focus' SEED OF CHUCKY ($8.7 M.) The remainder of the top 12 play out as expected except for the stronger showing of SIDEWAYS whick climbed three spots this week.
Here are the estimated box office receipts of the top twelve films from November 12 through to November 14 with their weekend gross and the movie's total domestic gross to date. As always, the week's new films are signified in red.
