By: Patrick SauriolDate: Monday, December 13, 2004
George Clooney and pals took the top spot at the box office this past weekend with OCEAN'S 12 earning a commanding $40.8 million dollars over its first three days of release. That's about $2 M better than the OCEAN'S 11 remake did two years ago, which went on to net $180 M domestic during its theatrical run.
BLADE: TRINITY opened in second spot with $16 M in ticket sales during the weekend. The sequel also benefitted by opening mid-week, notching up an additional $8 M (total so far $24.5 M.)
Last week's champ, NATIONAL TREASURE, fell to third spot and THE POLAR EXPRESS remained constant at number four, continuing to benefit from good word of mouth and the holiday season. THE INCREDIBLES is at sixth place, ALEXANDER is falling fast and hard (down to tenth) and SIDEWAYS is still holding on at eleventh place.
Here's the estimated box office receipts of the top twelve films from December 10 through to December 12 with their weekend gross and the movie's total domestic gross to date. As always, the week's new films are signified in red.
