Love Mignola's work.  I would pick-up a comic illustrated by him with no intention of ever reading it, just to admire the artwork...

Loving the list, but i cant see Mike Mignola beating out both Todd McFarlane and Marc Silvestri... and probably not Mark Bagley either

But I am glad to see Gil Kane ranked that well

Tevii...admittedly these are all tough calls...you might have an arugment with McFarlane but he has done such little work comic wise over the past 15 - 20 years.  Silvestri, a great artists and one of my faves doesn't score quite as high because he doesn't have the influence nor that one major creation to hang his hat on like Mignola does.  Also I'd say from many of the responses I received there may be somewhat of a backlash against the Image guys with the exception of Jim Lee.  I actually had people tell me they HOPE Liefeld is not on the list!  He's not but that's not why ultimately Liefeld was looked at as more riding the coattails of some of the other image guys, being less talented from a pure ability standpoint, and having as much negative influence as positive.  At least that's what I took out of the comments I received.

Personally, I'm not a huge Mignola fan but he gets mad love from his comtemporaries.  Once the last part comes out I might give my own personal Top 10.

I grew up reading comics in the 80's and early 90's so guys like Frzeta, Mcfarline, Byrne,Lee,Leifield,Perez,Ross, and Larson and others is what I read. Maybe I'm thinking with my heart on some of these.

Personally Ross is Number 1 for me. I like the realism of his translation. That is what looks amazing, the ability to translate the fantasy into what would they look like in real life.

It's not comic books, but the first time I saw Alex Ross images was in the first edition Shadowrun rulebook from Fasa.  It took me two years to connect him as being the same artist who did Terminator: The Burning Earth.
