It’s time for another edition of Mania’s Most Maniacal Rumors, where we blow the lid off the week’s juiciest gossip and hush-hush industry whispers.
If you have a rumor you want to contribute, we’re all ears. Just send it to jarrod@mania.com.
George Miller Directing Green Lantern Instead of Justice League?
Rumor: While Justice League has been placed on hold for director George Miller until next year (to be released 2011), a new rumor has popped up suggesting that he could be taking the top job for the upcoming adaptation of the Green Lantern and could be off the Justice League project.
Source: IESB
Mania Verdict: TRUE---There have been rumors for sometime that Miller’s deal would need to be restructured before he could continue with Justice League due to the delays. With all the preproduction problems regarding Justice League and Miller’s home country Australia, it would stand to reason that Miller would opt out and go with a different comic character.
Creator Mike Mignola Concerned About Del Toro’s Hellboy III?
Source: MTV
Mania Verdict: TRUE---While there’s doubt as to whether there will even be a third installment with the less than stellar box office performance and the director being in middle earth for the next four years, here’s what Mike Mignola had to say about Del Toro’s plan for a Hellboy III.
"The problem is, what del Toro's talked about to me is that 'Hellboy III' would be the end of Hellboy," Mignola said. "And here's where we have the big conflict. My version of Hellboy in the comics is a finite story, but it's going to take me 15 years to get to the ending. If he makes 'Hellboy 3' and it's the death of Hellboy, I'm left doing the comic going, 'But I'm not done yet.'"
X-Men Origins: Magneto on Hold by Goyer?
Source: Comic Book Resources
Mania Verdict: TRUE---This isn’t too surprising. Insiders have already indicated that 20th Century Fox is holding off on a Silver Surfer spin-off until they see how X-Men Origins: Wolverine does with audiences next May. It seems that executives at the studio could be doing the same policy for a Magneto spin-off as well and Goyer is just moving on with his next projects until the go ahead is given.
"I'm writing a new version of 'The Invisible Man' for Universal," Goyer said. "I'm in the process of doing ['Invisible Man'] right now, and I'm working with some conceptual artists in tandem with writing the script. I'm actually working with one of the artists from 'Batman Begins' and 'The Dark Knight.' So it could be 'Magneto,' or it could be 'The Invisible Man' next."
A Comic Book Based Version of Paris Hilton?
Source: Perez Hilton
Mania Verdict: TRUE---As much as we would like to say false, this has been a theme used before. Jenna Jameson has a comic based around her likeness and Pamela Anderson has the same thing. Paris Hilton will likely be the next blonde to get a comic alter ego as well.
Robot Chicken’s Breckin Meyer and Seth Green in Next Season’s Heroes?
Source: Michael Ausiello
Mania Verdict: TRUE---New EW and former TV Guide contributor Michael Ausiello says the duo are “this close” to signing a deal to appear as Atlanta-based comic book nerds who cross paths with one of the heroes. The creators like to include these bits of fun cameos into their series, having cast Uhuru, Sulu and comic creator Stan Lee into their series so this rumor seems to make sense.
Brett Ratner Remaking 1980 Horror Film Mother’s Day?
Rumor: Remakes of 80’s era horror film seem to be the latest trend in Hollywood with Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Prom Night and numerous other films getting an updated revision. The latest rumor suggests that Brett Ratner will be producing a remake of Charles Kaufman’s controversial Mother’s Day with Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II-IV, Repo! The Genetic Opera) sitting in the director’s chair.
Source:Shock Til You Drop
Mania Verdict: TRUE---While no distributor is mentioned, remakes of horror films seem to be an on going trend inside Hollywood circles. It fits that Mother’s Day is the next on the revision list. There’s question as to whether Ratner will find time for the project but we’re not doubting this controversial film, which is banned in some countries for its violence and rape scenes, getting a remake.

STUPID SELFISH WORTHLESS PARTY SLUT.
As for Magneto: Whatever Goyer's doing he'd better do it soon. Sir Ian aint no spring chicken.
Last & certainly least, Ratner: I'd like to donkey punch his mother on Mother's Day.
Sorry joeyb, I know you & Brett are tight;)
