You do realize that, other than the first top 10 list, those weren't sales numbers, right?

Retail oriented news site ICv2 has pulled together a few interesting things as the final numbers have rolled in regarding home video sales for 2010. That year saw a lot of business overall with some big titles coming out so there aren't too many surprises on the list of what sold and what the numbers are like. ICv2 also brought out their lists of what they felt were the best titles of the year, which don't always match up with the actual sales numbers but are often well regarded or critically acclaimed films that don't quite catch on in sales.
From the firm sales figures department, the top ten rundown is thus:
1. Avatar 9.8 million units sold
2. Toy Story 3 8.4 million
3. The Twilight Saga: New Moon 7.8 million
4. The Blind Side 7.2 million
5. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse 6.36 million
6. How to Train Your Dragon 5.25 million
7. Iron Man 2 5 million
8. The Princess and the Frog 4.5 million
9. The Hangover 4.3 million
10. Alice in Wonderland 4.1 million
While those movies are all determined by hard numbers, ICv2 put up a few lists of what they felt the top release in each category were for 2010 through their eyes as retailers and trackers of all things sales. These are not rankings for best selling, but the ones they felt were the best in the market. Do they match up with your experiences?

You do realize that, other than the first top 10 list, those weren't sales numbers, right?
Yay! Rebuild of Evangelion 1.11 is the biggest non-Miyazaki title (hey, those are a class unto themselves, even get TV ads), and FUNimation said earlier that it was officially their best-selling title of the past calendar year. Hopefully this will get FUNimation to start shelling out more special features for it, and do more at con panels than just run the trailer...
But I'm pleasantly shocked that Gintama managed to get in the top 10....which is good news for Sentai Filmworks, they really needed a hit.
