I can't be the only film nerd whose mind flashes immediately to moments from the Evil Dead series each year when the religious observance of Ash Wednesday rolls around. How could yours not? Campbell as Ash epitomizes awesome, and my formative years were massively influenced by watching this series repeatedly. I'd even written a special config file for Quake which bound a number of his one liners to the keys for the taunting of my vanquished foes (I'm certain they found it as annoying as I did funny). And so to celebrate this Ash Wednesday right, here are ten clips of Ash being a bad ass. These are in no particular order. How can this magnitude of awesome really be qualified?
Reloading!
It takes a real man to taunt his own hand
Matters not which side you are on
Greeting foreign dignitaries
Ashtonishing physicality
Recalling a classic
S-Mart's Top of the Line
Paying proper homage to royalty
Here, take two of these
Rambo? No, better

Campbell is one of those actors who has a following just based on his great oscreen persona. His fanbase is fanatical and you'd think it might lead him to twice as much work as he does like a Will Ferrell. But then again he is always busy. Besides his Burn Notice show he guest stars on the new NBC comedy series 1600 Penn tomorrow playing the President's (Bill Pullman) brother.
