Jurassic Park 4 Release Date

Return to Jurassic Park

By Robert T. Trate     January 11, 2013
Source: Entertainment Weekly

Universal Pictures has announced that the dinosaurs will return to the big screen in Jurassic Park 4. The fourth installment to the saga will arrive in theaters June 13, 2014. Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall will again produce the film. At this time no director for the film has been announced.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver wrote a draft of the screenplay for the sequel, but it has been in development hell since 2007.

The original Jurassic Park opens in 3D IMAX on April 5th to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the film.

 Hold on to your butts

...I'll believe it when I see it.  I would "assume" it'll take more than 18 months to completely make the film with CGI effects and all. Unless they plan on using rubberized dinosaurs or they are further along than they are telling us.  We shall see...

Agreed. We've heard this update at least once a year for the past six years. Give me some hard facts beyond a release and we'll talk.

My question would be what is the plot?  What brings the heroes (whoever they might be) to the Dinosaur Islands this time?  I said some time ago that they missed a perfect plot device from Movie #2.  When the ship carrying the T-Rex crashed into the San Diego dock, Ian Malcolm and the others went onboard to find the T-Rex awake and pissed and the crew torn apart.  How?  How did the 25' tall, five ton dinosaur kill the crew on the bridge and leave the bridge intact?  How did he get the crew below decks?  And how did he get sealed in the hold if all the crew was dead?  My guess, and the plot they could've used for movie #3, everyone was so focused on the Big Guy they didn't notice a bunch of smaller ones had gotten on (and off) the ship too.

Yeah not buying this for all the reasons already stated.

Plus it's not unusual to have a release date before a director but not this close to release.

Agreed FerretJohn. I had expected JP3 to be about dinos slinking about in LA. Neighborhoods but the next film was just a repeat of the first.

Surely we learned our lesson from JP3. And the last third of JP2.

But if Spielberg wants to kill all dinos and send them to meat processing plants that'll be a fun thing for vegans to watch.

DarthoftheDead 1/12/2013 5:40:45 PM

Yeah, with a movie like Pacific Rim coming out, I'm just beside's myself waiting for JP 4, lol.

What about all the DNA cells in the can of shaving cream?  The one that Nedry dropped during the rainstorm & it got covered by mud?
