Matthew Vaughn for Star Wars: Episode VII?

Collider.com is running the current story that X-Men: First Class director, Matthew Vaughn, is RUMORED to the be the next director in the Star Wars franchise. They report that this is unconfirmed, but does have the backing of a few reliable sources.
They state: “Matthew Vaughn, the director of Kick-Ass, Stardust, Layer Cake, and X-Men: First Class, is in talks with Lucasfilm to helm Star Wars: Episode VII. My sources tell me this is the main reason he dropped out of the X-Men sequel (which Bryan Singer is now directing).” - Steve Weintraub
I for one think Vaughn is the logical choice. We have seen him do gritty action thrillers with Layer Cake and Kick-Ass. He can also balance multiple characters and relaunch a franchise, X-Men: First Class. Vaughn is also completely competent in the whimsy/ fantasy arena as well, just watch Stardust.
Thanks to Chopsaki for the submission.
It is only a RUMOR at this point, let’s hope this one is true.
