The Rock for Hercules

By Robert T. Trate     November 08, 2012
Source: The Wrap

Paramount Studios announced Wednesday that they will produce a new film based on the legends of Hercules. The film will star none other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The downside to the project is that Brett Ratner is attached to direct the project.
“Ratner is directing from a script by Ryan Condal, who adapted the graphic novel “Hercules: The Thracian Wars.” It is revisionist take on the classic story where nothing is supernatural”. This information is from The
Though I like Dwayne Johnson in the lead, all I can now see is Brett Ratner and it makes me want to forget all about it.

Thanks to Chopsaki for the submission.

"Herkewleeeees, Herkewleeeees, Herkewleeeees" - Mama Klump

I don't share the hate for Ratner so many fanboys do. I think he's an ok director, not great but far from the likes Uwe Boll. And definitely capable of hitting a homerun or at least a double

The Rock as Hercules? ok a supertanned Greek demi-God I can flow with it. He definitely has the physique. The description I read doesn't mention anything supernatural either but it's still HERCULES and it's about his journey downward after being cursed by the Gods. It actually sounds pretty damn good.

Ratner probably has some good ideas since he spent sometime with the idea of doing his own Conan film before that fell apart

I agree with Wiseguy, alot of people get on him about X-Men 3 but personally I give him a muligan on that considering that it was an inherited piece of crap franchise to begin with (The more I watch Singer's first two films the more I think that all three XMen filsm were vastly flawed). Ratner is a decent director that might suprise with this film.

I feel a titanic sized train wreck coming on.....

@wise, please don't ever mention the name of the director that shall not be named ever again!

@axia...I kind of agree; when I read the news The Mummy Returns, Scorpion King, Clash of the Titans etc flooded into my mind.  Hopefully this will be different.

Fuck I hate it when it's  "It is revisionist take on the classic story where nothing is supernatural". I hated that aspect of Troy and there is no way I will support this crap.

That's like making a Batman movie with no supernatural. super powerered elememts in a realistic setting.

Oh wait....that's been done before.

thezillaman 11/8/2012 12:41:41 PM

this is going to turn out so fucking Generic, i can see it already. i think the reason he's not throwing in anything supernatural is because, he can't handle it so he's just making a drama instead of a real Herk U, movie that could fit in with titans and immortals, ..besides this is old news...

Seems like it will end up being a fun take on Hercules. Can't say if it will be great until I see a trailer.

Though my dream job for Dwayne Johnson continues to be Doc Savage.
