TOS 'Guardian' Writer Ellison Denies STAR TREK Rumor

Last month, there was a story circulating that the new STAR TREK film would have story elements taken from the TOS episode "Guardians of Forever" and that Harlan Ellison, writer for that episode would be a bit about angry about that fact since he owns some rights to that particular story concept. Well, Harlan Ellison himself has dispelled those rumors while at an event for the WGA strike, reports Trek Movie.
There's a video of Ellison talking about the rumors, complete with his patented-Ellison colorful metaphor lingo, and they state independent sources have verified that the GoF storyline is not in play with the movie's story. Check out the video in the Trek link above.
STAR TREK will hit theaters Christmas Day 2008.
Maniac Scoopers Monkeyfoot and JoeyBaloney sent this at the same time so thank you guys.

The TOS episode was titled "The City on the Edge of Forever," not "Guardians of Forever." The alien Kirk and company encounter in the episode was known as the Guardian, however.
Just FYI. :-)
