The next Pixar movie takes off

Here is the first official poster for the Cars follow up, Planes. At this time only comedian and actor Dane Cook has been announced in the latest Pixar/ Disney project. I’ll bet all of Luigi’s tires that Pixar Alumni John Ratzenberger ends up in the cast too.

Official Boiler Plate: From above the world of “Cars” comes “Disney’s Planes,” an action-packed 3D animated comedy adventure featuring Dusty (voice of Dane Cook), a plane with dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer. But Dusty’s not exactly built for racing—and he happens to be afraid of heights. So he turns to a seasoned naval aviator who helps Dusty qualify to take on the defending champ of the race circuit. Dusty’s courage is put to the ultimate test as he aims to reach heights he never dreamed possible, giving a spellbound world the inspiration to soar”.

Planes features the voice talents of Dane Cook and is directed by Klay Hall (Father of the Pride).

Disney’s Planes takes off in theaters on Aug. 9, 2013.

GOD make this stupidity stop. even when the first cars came out my kids thought it was stupid. and they were age approptiate for it at the time.  PIXAR you have GOOD properties. USE THEM and stop dumbing down the kids of thew world.  INCREDIBLES 2 for starters. THAT is something we need.

saxx76 3/28/2013 4:23:49 PM

This is not the Incredibles 2 I requested.

Hey, question: Does anybody know if this is actually a Pixar movie? I haven't seen their name on any of the promotions except to connect it to Cars. I'd hate for this to be a really horrible film and have the Internet brand it as a Pixar failure, if that's not the case. Kinda' fond of that company. Say what you want, but even their "bad" movies seem to have a better grasp of basic storytelling than the majority of the dross out there.

I agree with JTime.  This is a DISNEY move not a Disney/Pixar movie.  Yes, Pixar has made some terrible decisions lately (I'm looking at you, Brave and Cars 2) but this is a Disney only venture.  Pixar does not appear (last time I saw and this could have changed) in the trailer or the poster.

what was wrong with Brave? I thought it was excellent. then again, I am Scottish...

Brave was better than any of the CARS crap. Also Brave provides a real girl heroine, which my daughter liked.

This from IMDb: "Although "Planes" is a spin-off of the Pixar Animation Studios film, Cars, and it's sequel, Cars 2, this movie is not being produced by Pixar, instead its under the Disney Toon Studios production company. However, John Lasseter, chief creative officer of both Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios, will be one of the producers."

Having established that this is not a Pixar movie I still feel the need to lament about Pixar. I just rewatched Finding Nemo last night and miss the warm, witty, detailed, intelligent, inventive Pixar. Cars was not wonderful, Cars 2 was unnecessary, Brave was better but still below Pixar par and I'm not getting the right vibes about Monsters University either. Where have you gone Pixar?

As for Planes, since I didn't groove on Cars I'm definitely not feeling this one is for me either. Shame.
