Toy Fair Revisited - Mattel

By: Scott Collura
Date: Sunday, February 24, 2002

Our photo coverage of this year's industry Toy Fair in New York City continues with a trip to the Mattel showroom. Mattel, of course, is one of the "big boys" of the toy industry, with an array of products in their line-up geared to boys, girls and children of all ages. During our visit, however, we stuck to the boy's toys, which we found to include a variety of TV and movie based merchandise.

With the success of the HARRY POTTER film last year, Mattel is gearing up with more product based on the next film in the series, HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS. The Nickelodeon animated star, JIMMY NEUTRON, is also getting some great action figures and "invention" toys. And speaking of animation, HE-MAN is back with a new line of figures to celebrate his 20th anniversary, while new sensation YU-GI-OH! is also well represented. Max Steel continues to assume as many identities as a multiple personality patient, while Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars keep on rolling along. Regrettably, the model/actress appearing at the event as Barbie was unwilling to play house with usbut that's another story altogether...
