Toy Fair Revisited - Mezco Toyz
By: Scott ColluraDate: Saturday, February 23, 2002
Today we continue to explore the depths of Toy Fair 2002 with a look at Mezco Toyz' showroom. Mezco is a young company that made its mark on the action figure world last year with some very interesting and diverse products. They first gained notice with their series of Silent Screamers figures, a continuation of the now defunct Aztech Toyz' line of silent-era movie monsters turned action figures. Other popular characters also popped up from Mezco, including a highly detailed and accessorized Captain Nemo series, RESERVOIR DOGS figures, and Scary Tales dolls (sexy and violent versions of popular fairy tales Alice in Wonderland and Little Red Riding Hood).
This year looks to be quite impressive as well for the company. They've landed the prized AUSTIN POWERS 3 license, as well as more cultish ANIMAL HOUSE and Run DMC deals. Look for more from RESERVOIR DOGS, plus a continuation of Mezco's very popular Living Dead Dolls. The only complaint one might have about the 2002 lineup is there are no new Silent Screamers to be found!
