Toy Fair Update: Gladiator Toys!
Date: Tuesday, February 13, 2001Six-inch figures, possibly playsets and probably 12-inch toys from the Oscar-nominated Gladiator are in the works from N2 Toys for the fourth quarter this year.
Here's more updates:
Mad Max II: Road Warrior series II toys will include Max and several other characters with switch-able bloody heads and hands, including The Toadie and Papagallo's boy toy (who both have an unfortunate run in with the Feral Kid's metal boomerang). Also, look for the V8 Police Interceptor car, a gyrocopter, and three 12-inch figuresMax, Warrior Women and Wez.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon will spawn action figures from Art Asylum including three-inch and 18-inch resin and doll lines. Look for them in September or October coinciding with the DVD release.
Art Asylum also plans a new V.I.P. line based on the popular Pamela Anderson TV series.
A Harry Potter collectible card game, based on Magic rules (about 20% of them), will come in three wavesAugust, November and February.
Sideshow Toys plans a 12-inch Dracula based on Bela Lugosi and Phantom of the Opera.
Sideshow also plans a series of highly detailed replica items based on the set and character designs from the upcoming Lord of the Rings, including helmets, swords and statues.
There'll be three more waves of Simpsons toys are on their way including a Main Street playset with exclusive pimple-faced kid and the short-sighted, wrinkled old man.
Mezco (formerly Aztech Toys) plans a 6-inch Captain Nemo as part of a '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea' line. Also, look for a Popeye toy from Mezco.
Reservoir Dogs toys will be coming out in late April, early May while the 10th anniversary DVD will release this fall.
