Toy Maniac: New Marvel Universe Figures
Spidey and Loki’s Army
By Robert T. Trate
April 19, 2012
The Toy Maniac cannot wait for April to get over with. I am constantly searching for all the new figures for this summer’s crop of movies. Already The Avengers toys have arrived on shelves. I like what I have seen. I just wish they were more in style with the Marvel Legends line. I wasn’t a huge fan of the line originally. The figures were too big. There was almost too much articulation. To complete the “build a figure” I always had to get somebody I really didn’t want. Now I love the details, all the figures are essential, and the size is perfect. I understand and like the 3.75 inch line. I just wish all the Avengers came in 6-inch size. I am digressing, though.
Marvel and Hasbro have released new figures in their Marvel Universe line. The first is from their big summer tent pole movie, The Avengers. At last there will be some other villains for Captain America, Thor, and the Hulk to beat around. Really, what took so long? What fun is there in beating up just Loki?
Loki’s Army Power Up Mission Pack
The other figure was a shock even to me. Brian Michael Bendis’ new take on The Ultimate Spider-Man is finally getting his own figure. Two of them, actually. Yes, Miles Morales is finally joining the Marvel action figure universe.

Check the toy aisle and build an army for The Avengers to fight with Loki’s Army. While you are at it, look for both the 6-inch new Ultimate Spider-Man and his 3.75 inch counterpart.
