The trailer for the upcoming film 300 has made it's way online. The film is being directed by Zack Snyder and is based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller.

You can find the trailer here.

The movie is a retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army. Facing insurmountable odds, their valor and sacrifice inspire all of Greece to unite against their Persian enemy, drawing a line in the sand for democracy.

The film combines live action with virtual backgrounds to capture Miller's vision for the historic tale.

The film is set to hit theaters on March 9, 2007 and will be distributed by Warner Bros.

Thank the Gods that this trailer is finally in Quicktime. This trailer, even in the inferior WMV format was cool as hell. Now, it's even cooler. I still don't think that WATCHMEN should be made into a film, but I think that Zack Snyder would do a good job, especially with this type of technology. When I first saw SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW, I said to myself, "If I were to ever actually make a WATCHMEN film, this is how it should be made." Let's hope he takes that advice to heart.

I don't use swear words when posting on Cinescape because I don't want to offend anyone. But in this case I'll use a few and forgive me for them.

That was frackin awesome (nod to BSG)! I'll be pissed if I ship out before I get to see this!

Don't know. This looks kinda weird. This computer-created background worked for Sin City, since that was a bit of a fantastical story, but isn't this supposed to be based on a real event? I haven't read the story, but this was a real battle that took place. I'll reserve judgment until the next trailer.
