Which Trailers Get the SUPERBOWL Treatment?

Variety has published a new report on what we can expect to get some Super Bowl advertising time in terms of movie trailers. At least eight movie promos are planned by seven studios with each ad costing $2.7-$3 million per 30-second spot. Only four of the studios have said openly which movies they plan to promote during the big game..

Paramount and Marvel plan promos for Iron Man.

Sony plans a promo for Hancock and their Adam Sandler comedy Don't Mess with the Zohan.

New Line is planning a collaboration commercial with Budweiser on their latest Wil; Ferrell comedy Semi-Pro.

Disney hasn't fully decided but both Wall-E and Chronicles of Narnia:Prince Caspian are contenders.

Universal, Warner Bros. and Fox also have bought time in the game but declined to disclose which films they would push.

It should be noted that some studios are planning on getting airtime for trailers in the pre and post-game aspects of the big game. The Super Bowl will air on Fox on February 3, 2008.

Too bad I'll miss all of these, which ever ones are shown. I hate football (American Football anyway) and never watch the Stupid Bowl, um the Stuper Bowl, um, er the Super Bowl.

They probably would get more mileage for their dollar if they were to spread it out and advertise during a broader spectrum of shows.
I take that back. With the strike still on, the Super Bowl may be the only thing on that's not a re-run and therefore should get even more viewers than normal.

I don't know about that Wiseguy. I think networks rarely put new episodes of their shows against the Super Bowl. Usually they'll counterprogram with the first airing of a movie or some other special.

Isn`t the Super Bowl the most watched program on tv every year? I thought that was why advertisers pay 1.5 mil for a 30 second spot. There is no other time that they will get so many people watching their product/movie whatever at one time. Although, I do have to say that the Super Bowl commercials have been lacking the passed few years.

I always watch the bowl but because I live up in Toronto the US commercials are never shown even on the US stations. It sucks because the commercials are always half the fun of watching the game.

Super Bowl is the only football game I watch because of the commericals, the beer, my boys and our own Super Bowl,,,(toke)....other than that, I don't care.
