Here is the latest trailer of Johnny Depp’s next film Transcendence. This trailer comes from Japan and has some interesting visuals for the film. It will be nice to see Depp in something other than a pirate or Tim Burton movie.

Synopsis: Dr. Will Caster is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. His highly controversial experiments have made him famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-technology extremists who will do whatever it takes to stop him. However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed—to be a participant in his own transcendence. For his wife Evelyn and friend Max, both fellow researchers, the question is not if they can... but if they should. Their worst fears are realized as Will's thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power—to what end is unknown. The only thing that is becoming terrifyingly clear is there may be no way to stop him.
Transcendence features Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Cillian Murphy, Clifton Collins, Jr., and Morgan Freeman.
Transcendence arrives April 18th, 2014.

 Forgive me, but...Matrix?

Looks like in all goes to hell and becomes something like Grey-Goo Apocalypse. No ones' ever done this Sci-Fi concept as an A level motion picture.

Matrix? Not even close. More like Lawnmower Man mixed together with Freejack, and topped with bit of Virtuosity.

Agree with Muenster The Matrix is classic Sci-Fi, doubt that this is in that league.

Sometimes I read reviews and they don't make any sense (before you say it, I'll admit this may speak to my lack of intelligence).  Case in point - I'm trying to understand the reason why anyone would want to make a super smart sentient machine with a full range of human emotions.  Wouldn't the emotions get in the way of the machines vast intellect (gum up the to speak) as they do with rational thought in human beings?  Hopefully the movie clears that up for me.

Emotions coupled to logic (can) create the ability to utilize associative memory to solve problems, develop indivdual responses to specific stimuli and to extrapolate other possible responses.

Emotions allow one to lie, decieve, and obfuscate.
