Finally saw Transformers 2 this weekend and I'm quite suprised to say I enjoyed it. I didn't think much of the first except for the FX. Now I may be used to how the story would be done and it's level of humor and drama and I found it a great spectacular fun ride of a summer movie. I don't know why critics have ripped it so mercilussly. I mean it is what it is: a superficial Michael Bay FX laden Blow Stuff Up movie with a plot that is appropriate. And for me it works. I'm glad I saw it on the big screen becasue the FX were some of that most incredible I've ever seen. Well done, ILM. But it is a movie from a cartoon made to sell a toy. The plot is consistent , the characters are supposed to be two-dimensional and the story would do fine in most any comic book series and was just loads of fun. It has to be the Mother Of All Blow Stuff Up Movies, though.

@ amish, Up still hasn't been released in some major markets, UK, Australia, Japan, France and Germany and some of these won't get it in theaters til Oct and Dec. In this day and age of internet and piracy I find this ridiculous. By that time most folk will have access to some sort of pirated copy if they choose to not wait.

No surprise here, it'll be number 1 for a while & will probably beat out Harry as well, its a no-brainer. Look at the rest of the summer theres, not much out there that screams summer movie more than TF 2 does.

They spent $200 million on Terminator?  Definitly not money well spent.

I don't think $25M is too surprising for Public Enemies. Despite the actors involved, the previews basically came across as a period costume drama. Third place against two movies that combined for over $80M isn't anything to sneeze at.
