Paramount & Dreamworks TRANSFORMERS has scored big in some overseas markets the past week. The film starring Megan Fox, Shia LaBeouf & the "Transformers" broke the biggest China opening total ever scoring 2.95 million on 550 screens. In its first two days (Wednesday-Thursday), it has racked up 5 million.

It definitely looks like it has a shot of beating SPIDER-MAN 3's Chinese box office total of 18 million and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD"S END total of 15 million.

As of Thursday, the new action movie has tallied 130 million from overseas markets alone. Keep in mind, TRANSFORMERS has yet to be released in the UK, Japan, Germany or France.

I understand why, but doesn't that just crack you up that 2.95 million is the largest american opening in China, a country of over a billion people.
P.S. Love that picture of Megan. Thank you for remembering to always use that one when refering to Transformers.

She's engaged to Brian Austin Green though. That creeps me out. That's all I can think about when I look at her.

Hey, he's about my age so that means I have a chance with her. Of course I'm not famous or good looking or rich like him so probably not.
So, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Just kidding. I'm married with two kids, so I really don't care. But she sure is nice to look at.

Well my wife just left me, so I will take a shot at her although I probably have a better chance of winning the multi million lotto so never mind...lol

Miaforcer: Your wife left you for me...she said it was something about my poetic writing, or something. Maybe she just wants me for my comic book collection, I don't know...but soon, even Megan Fox will be mine!!! (Laughs) Ha...ha...ha...ha...ha...he...ha...ha...cough...cough...cough!!! (Pauses...clears throat...continue dialogue) Ha...ha...ha...ha...ha...he...ha...ha..ha!!!

Well China does have a lot of poor people living in it, I mean the highest a movie has ever grossed in China is like $50 million, and thats their highest grossing movie, its really sad in a way.

Plus China only allows certain movies to be shown in theaters for a limited amount of time, as well as limiting the number of foreign films that can be shown in the country yearly.

In closing living in China probably sucks for most movie lovers, you can't afford to go to the movies, then your government regulates which ones you can see and how long they are allowed in theaters.

akobus...That's true...Living in a communist country run by the military who want to control there citizens is unfortunate for those that live there...I'm glad I live in the U.S....Thank you Jebus!

I wonder if they got an unedited version of the film.

I said I understood why, but also in China they have major pirating going on. My brother in Law bought me a DVD of the Return of the king in China after the movie had only been in theaters a week. I watched part of it once and the quality wasn't perfect, but I bet that hurts the movie industry quite a bit over there. He said they were selling DVD's of movies that hadn't even been released to theaters yet.
Crazy.
Still 1.2 billion people, 2.9 million biggest opening. I know why. I'm just saying it's pathetic.

"I wonder if they got an unedited version of the film."

Another sad aspect for people who live in China, the films that get shown are often times edited, some times to much. The Chinese Government can order films altered if they think they negatively portray China.
Case in point Pirates of the Carribean: At Worlds End, supposidely in the Chinese version of the film Chow Yun-Fats part was completely cut.
