DreamWorks Pictures, Paramount and director Michael Bay are showing off a new "Prime" from Transformers: Dark of the Moon in the latest issue of Empire. Some lucky fans across the pond were kind enough to take some scans of the images and pass them along. Going by the title of Sentinel Prime, the robot is being described as "a big brother and mentor to Optimus Prime."

Beyond the two pics of Sentinel down below, check out some more images here. The website also reports there will be a new Decepticon by the name of "Dreadbox" which takes the form of a Ferrari. Poised to invade theaters during the July 4th weekend, the third installment in the franchise stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Ken Jeong, Patrick Dempsey, Alan Tudyk and John Turturro. Returning director Michael Bay shot the production with 3D technology, based on a screenplay by Ehren Kruger.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon will hit 3D/2D/IMAX theaters July 1, 2011.

Im not sure im liking all these additional actors added into the mix. It just means to me that there will be more human crap taking away from the Transformers.

Oh good, now it'll be awesome for sure.  I remember thinking that the last movie wouldn't have sucked at all if it had just one more senior citizen robot.  Gotta say, I'm disappointed to see Frances McDormand accepted the dumptruck full of money to be in this transforming trainwreck.  Of course I'd be on film blowing Shockwave for that much cash but I thought she was a better person than I am.

this movie will be crap. one reason: John Turturro

I think John Turturo is a brilliant actor, but he embarrasses himself to get the Transformers paycheck.

Can't say I have a lot of hope for this one... but I got a little excited when I heard Sentinal Prime, as I love the whole rivalry between him and optimus in the new animated series... then I realized that the only thing this one and that one have in common is the ripped off name.... Brutal.

Oh... and this whole "it's a movie about toys, it's ok to be ridiculous fun!" argument for this and GIJoe... I agree in theory... however two things... One, in needs to be ridiculous FUN... not just ridiculous for that to work.... Two, it is absolutely possible to rake a whacky comic book or cartoon premise and make it big, and still have a great story fans can enjoy, and that's what fans want from this franchise, ridiculous fun... and a little respect.

Madmanic999...Sentinel Prime has been around for many years (though rarely seen or featured) in several of the comic series.  The Bay movie version is actually much closer in spirit and history to that version than the one seen in Transformers Animated.  In fact, THAT one would be more of a ripped off name.

I think the new robots look awesome...really looking forward to it!

I want to know why is it that Empire keeps getting all the good shit.

madmanic the major reason I think both franchises work for me is that I was never a big fan of either as a kid. Of course I was aware of them and would catch the toons here and there but mostly unaware of the details of the mythology. I still look at them as films based on toys, not comics or cartoons, toys.

Not even worth repeating over and over to fill a paragraph.

So much critical hate for a movie based on a half hour toy commercial. I enjoyed the first 2 on a pop corn movie level, I expect this to be no different. Bring on the Bayhem!!!
