MANDRAKE Misdirection: Hayden Christensen Disappears from Cast List

Earlier this week we told you that actor Hayden Christensen had landed the lead role in the new 'Mandrake' movie. That info came directly from the Omega Entertainment promotion site which touts two leading men as well as a director and screenwriters for the movie.

However, Christensen's own people beg to differ.

Unnamed representatives for the actor told MTV Splash Page that their client is "not attached" to the movie.

The article offers few other details of the denial. Did this come from an agent? A publicist? A manager? "Not attached" is an awfully slippery phrase and open to interpretation. It could me anything from "We've never had any communications with the filmmakers on that one" to "We've had extensive meetings but haven't signed a deal."

Clearly Omega Entertainment has been using their alleged cast and crew to attract investors at Cannes, so one wonders why they would bandy Christensen's name about if there wasn't something afoot.

Oscar Jaenada is latest LOSER

The cast for Sylvain White's 'The Losers', based on the DC/Vertigo comic of the same name, may have landed it's final lead. According to, Óscar Jaenada is the latest, and last significant cast member in the film.

Jaenada, seen in numerous Spanish-language movies, not to mention the recent 'The Limits of Control' has been signed to play the role of Cougar, the cowboy hat-wearing sharp-shooter on the team.

Blackfilm has also indepently confirmed's April scoop, that Chris Evans has locked down the role of Jensen (a deal that was still being negotiated when we reported it). They provide further confirmation for the news that Jason Patric is on board to play Max in the movie.

SMALLVILLE Shuttled to Fridays

The CW have announced their fall lineup. 'Smallville' returns for its ninth season in a new timeslot.

The long-running show, that has been the foundation for The CW, will now air on Fridays at 8pm, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Ummm...SUPERMAN likes Toyota Prius

We don't really understand this Japanese language ad, but it stars Matthew Bomer, once believed a contender for the lead in 'Superman Returns', who shows off the costume from that film.

TRANSFORMERS and POTTER footage during MTV Movie Awards

MTV Splash Page tells us to tune into the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, May 31, if you want to see new footage from 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen'. They've also got clips from the new 'Harry Potter' movie.

Look for 'Green Lantern' director Martin Campbell's wife, actress Sol Romero, to have a role in the DC Comics-based movie.

"We're still in the casting process so I really can't talk about who I'm playing yet. But I personally think the movie is going to be bigger than any other comic movies, like Spider-Man," Romero told SCI FI Wire during a recent press junket.

What do you think, Maniacs? Who might Romero be playing? Post your comments below...

Single White Thunder God Seeks Volstagg

SpoilerTV have posted what is purported to be an official casting side for the 'Thor' movie. The casting calls for an actor to play the rotund Asgardian Volstagg:

Male. Early to mid 30s. 6'2" or taller. Obese but agile, fun, good-hearted, a warrior but prefers eating over fighting...SUPPORTING; OPEN TO ALL ETHNICITIES.

IRON MAN 2 Cat Fight?

According to the UK Tabloid The Sun, tensions are running high on the set of 'Iron Man 2' between leading lady Gwenyth Paltrow and her romantic rival Scarlett Johansson. The article may be largely exaggeration, as The Sun is known to publish from time-to-time, but click through if such things interest you.

I say let Gwenyth and Scarlett get in thongs and duke it out in a ring full of jello,,,that I would pay to see...yeah baby,,,,but I also don't believe it,,,they might have had an argument, but that is bound to happen...I guess Smallville is getting ready to go out. Friday night is where shows go to die,,,It is like the Florida for TV shows.

ScarJo would snap Gwenyth like a twig. Not that I believe a word of the story, except maybe for the part that says the two of them are in IM2 together.  That part, I believe.

Volstagg: Jorge Garcia. Hello? And he'll need work soon...

I wouldn't mind a Pepper/Natasha fight scene but real life? Meh...

jfdavis 5/21/2009 11:44:18 AM

Oh! Is there any bigger insult  than The CW killing a show? Of course, in this case, Smallville better bring out the real Superman this season or they're toast either way...

redhairs99 5/21/2009 12:23:06 PM

I wonder if they are moving Supernatural too or did that get the axe and I missed it?  That's really the only "genre" paring on the network so you'd think they would air them together.  I guess they want to go up against Fox's Dollhouse and whatever other show they pair it up with.  This season was Smallville was pretty good except for the disappointing finale.  Although if I really can't recall a season finale of Smallville ever living up to the hype.  Guess we'll see what this all means next year.

hanso 5/21/2009 1:39:19 PM

Supernatural is going to be paired with Vampire Diaries.

redhairs99 5/21/2009 2:15:14 PM

Saw that right after I posted earlier.  Still not a wise move for the old CW, but I'll still be there (well DVR'ing) on Friday nights hoping for the best for Smallville.

Wiseguy 5/21/2009 3:26:31 PM

I always tivo'd Smallville anyway, never actually catch it as it airs. So as long as the ratings don't come into question it doesn't affect me at all.

Mandrake fans cross your fingers CH doesn't get this role, you still have hope.

As long as Sol Romero isn't Carol Danvers I don't care who she plays. But she'll probably be some alien GL

I was looking forward to seeing Avatar's first trailer in front of Transformers but I read a rumor that it's the Last Air Bender's trailer that will play with T2. Avatar supposedly will be with Ice Age in 3D. New reason to see Ice Age 3D

Wiseguy 5/21/2009 3:31:03 PM

I can not think of anyone who'd be a good Volstagg, John Goodman is too old.

Gwyneth vs Scarlett? Gwyneth is probably jealous that there's a hotter chick than her on the set

Who the heck is Adam Lambert?

jsmulligan 5/21/2009 5:40:50 PM

Yeah, Smallville moving to Fridays is an odd move by the CW.  But then again, it IS the Cw.

Hrm... I wish I was 6'2... blasted brother got the tall genes...
