'Transformers': Sideways. Plus: 'Loser' found. 'Smallville' shuttled. 'Mandrake' Misinfo? 'Green Lantern' nepotism? 'Iron Man 2' cat fight? Watching Adam Lambert fade into anonymity, never to be heard from again, it's your Comics2Film 9.5.21!
Earlier this week we told you that actor Hayden Christensen had landed the lead role in the new 'Mandrake' movie. That info came directly from the Omega Entertainment promotion site which touts two leading men as well as a director and screenwriters for the movie.
However, Christensen's own people beg to differ.
Unnamed representatives for the actor told MTV Splash Page that their client is "not attached" to the movie.
The article offers few other details of the denial. Did this come from an agent? A publicist? A manager? "Not attached" is an awfully slippery phrase and open to interpretation. It could me anything from "We've never had any communications with the filmmakers on that one" to "We've had extensive meetings but haven't signed a deal."
Clearly Omega Entertainment has been using their alleged cast and crew to attract investors at Cannes, so one wonders why they would bandy Christensen's name about if there wasn't something afoot.
The cast for Sylvain White's 'The Losers', based on the DC/Vertigo comic of the same name, may have landed it's final lead. According to Blackfilm.com, Óscar Jaenada is the latest, and last significant cast member in the film.
Jaenada, seen in numerous Spanish-language movies, not to mention the recent 'The Limits of Control' has been signed to play the role of Cougar, the cowboy hat-wearing sharp-shooter on the team.
Blackfilm has also indepently confirmed Mania.com's April scoop, that Chris Evans has locked down the role of Jensen (a deal that was still being negotiated when we reported it). They provide further confirmation for the news that Jason Patric is on board to play Max in the movie.
The CW have announced their fall lineup. 'Smallville' returns for its ninth season in a new timeslot.
The long-running show, that has been the foundation for The CW, will now air on Fridays at 8pm, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
We don't really understand this Japanese language ad, but it stars Matthew Bomer, once believed a contender for the lead in 'Superman Returns', who shows off the costume from that film.
MTV Splash Page tells us to tune into the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, May 31, if you want to see new footage from 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen'. They've also got clips from the new 'Harry Potter' movie.
Look for 'Green Lantern' director Martin Campbell's wife, actress Sol Romero, to have a role in the DC Comics-based movie.
"We're still in the casting process so I really can't talk about who I'm playing yet. But I personally think the movie is going to be bigger than any other comic movies, like Spider-Man," Romero told SCI FI Wire during a recent press junket.
What do you think, Maniacs? Who might Romero be playing? Post your comments below...

SpoilerTV have posted what is purported to be an official casting side for the 'Thor' movie. The casting calls for an actor to play the rotund Asgardian Volstagg:
Male. Early to mid 30s. 6'2" or taller. Obese but agile, fun, good-hearted, a warrior but prefers eating over fighting...SUPPORTING; OPEN TO ALL ETHNICITIES.
According to the UK Tabloid The Sun, tensions are running high on the set of 'Iron Man 2' between leading lady Gwenyth Paltrow and her romantic rival Scarlett Johansson.
