"Transformers" Trailer Online

By: Karl Schneider
Date: Thursday, December 21, 2006
Source: Yahoo!

As promised, the trailer for the upcoming Michael Bay film Transformers has made it's way online via Yahoo!.

You can find it here.

In the film, the Earth is caught in the middle of an intergalactic war between two races of robots, the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, which are able to change into a variety of objects, including cars, trucks, planes and other technological creations.

The trailer is bad ass.  Some hardcore fans may take issue with the sounds, look and feel of the new monsters, but Bay said from the start they were going to modernize them.  I think they look amazing and the trailer was nothing but effective.  Count me in for opening weekend so long as the reviews aren't awful.

Despite such a great trailer, I still can't see this film doing gangbusters at the box office, just too much competition in Spiderman 3, Pirates of the Caribbean 3 and Shrek 3.  Oh did I mention that Harry Potter 5 opens the weekend after Transformers?  Yeah, this film will be lucky to crack 200 million domestically even if it is Batman Begins good.

I have to admit this trailer had me somewhat impressed. I'm still not 100% sold on it, but this trailer definitely said a mood and direction for this film that I liked. I think it would've been nice to hear a little Peter Cullen in the trailer. Perhaps an Autobots roll out or transform line.

One thing I do know is that little girl in the trailer has one big, deep swimming pool in her back yard.

I remember a few of the early Marvel comic books that had mature looking covers and a darker art style. This trailer reminded me a bit of that. I was impressed. This looks to be a much more grown up film and I too am warming up to it.

The original Transformers fans have grown up and I guess it makes sense that so should the film.

I was nervous about the designs (okay, yes, I complained) but seeing them in action it looked great. Scorponok was menacing and Bumblebee with his face mask on LOOKS sort of like a bee or a wasp. Pas mal!

I'm looking forward to the full blown trailer.
(Plus, the love interest in the film is pretty hot... we were grinning every moment she appeared in the trailer).

i was a little nervous before clicking on that trailer, i can somewhat relax a bit..i was really impressed and hyped me up more for this movie...some of those scenes looked damn good...on don murphy's website, he mentionend something about changing the trailer, hopefully it will be Cullen...i cant wait for this flick..as stated above, it has some good competetion for the summer...but i think it will hold its own...cuz its something new...imho.and yes that was one deep swimming pool...on another note, ILM did the special effects and you can really see it on the designs..i swear i see some sort of droid(From the SW prequels) when it comes to bumble bee, maybe its just me...

There's a huge number of haters out there...or maybe just a very whiny vocal few??? But to me it looks awesome! Yes, there will be over the top action scenes with huge explosions and slow motion...it IS a Hollywood film afterall...but I think it will hold it's own during the summer blockbusters. Transformers fans are many.

I believe we will see another trailer featuring more detailed performances from the Autobot and Decepticon characters. We may also hear a bit of the vocal performances from Peter Cullen and Frank Welker. This trailer would probably come out a few months before the movies release. Just to fan the flames of anticipation a wee bit more. :-)

Normally, I would slam any M Bay movie as if it were M Night directing but THIS looks frickin' fun! Can't wait.

This ticks me off!!!

I wanted this movie to look HORRIBLE. I'm going to be out of the U.S. in June. I'll have to wait a long long time to see it.

Looks pretty good. Will it be the best action movie ever? I highly doubt it. But will it be good? You betcha! I will be shocked if it sucks!
