TRANSFORMERS Won't Have Megan Fox to Kick Around Any More!

'Transformers 3' won't have Megan Fox to kick around any more. Plus: 'Smallville' series wind-down! 'Captain America' shuns America! Actor likes 'Scott Pilgrim' and more! It's what America wants for breakfast. It's your Comics2Film 10.5.20!

While most of the upcoming Marvel movies are slated to film in California (and indeed, Jon Favreau and Marvel were instrumental in spearheading efforts for the state to provide business incentives to keep productions in Hollywood) one movie on the slate is filming overseas: 'Captain America: The First Avenger'.

The L.A. Times reports that events are conspiring to keep the production completely in the U.K., where a large portion of the movie is set. They could have limited exterior and location shooting to London, and done their set work at Raleigh Studios where work on 'Thor' and 'Iron Man 2' was done. However, the economics of splitting up the work that way was proving prohibitive (and we know Marvel is all about economical film-making).

Furthermore there's Britain's film incentive of 20% to 25% payable tax credit on qualified expenditures. Had Marvel kept it in California they would not have been eligible for the new tax credits, which are only available to films budgeted at less than $75 million. Marvel's 'Captain America' budget is said to be a whopping $140 million.

So, plans currently stand for director Joe Johnston to begin filming the movie with actors Chris Evans, Samuel Jackson and Hugo Weaving this July in London.

Blake Lively on GREEN LANTERN

Actress Blake Lively plays Carol Ferris in the upcoming 'Green Lantern' movie. In a recent Vogue profile on Surfer Style, she dished some details about the movie.

According to the report, she's been rehearsing with the film's stunt coordinator, which has proven to be quite a work-out. "Our director [Martin Campbell] likes it real—the fights close and dirty. I'm 40 feet in the air, spiraling around. That's the best workout you can ever do because it's all core. You do that for ten minutes and you should see your body the next day! It's so exhilarating, so thrilling—and nauseating."

So Carol Ferris sees a lot of action in the movie? C2F has to wonder if she's a damsel in distress in these aerial duels? Or is she sporting her own Sapphire powers in the film? Hmmmm?

SMALLVILLE Series Winds Down

There's been some big developments in the world of 'Smallville' over the last few days.

First up, The CW has announced their fall schedule. The show is slated to keep its current spot of Fridays at 8pm for the 10th season. That's not such big news.

Secondly, in an interview with Hollywood Life, actor Tom Welling let slip that Season 10 will be the series final season. The news was confirmed by The CW according THR's Live Feed blog. The network will be rolling out an official announcement soon. The news is probably not surprising to most fans who wondered if season 8 or 9 would be the last. Hopefully with a clear ending in sight, producers will make the final season about the build up to a full-on Superman appearance.

The third, and perhaps biggest bit of 'Smallville' news comes from The Ausiello Files at Allison Mack will not be a regular player on the final season of the show that made her famous.

However, the report does not rule out Chloe Sullivan popping up here and there as a guest player, much as Kristin Kreuk did in Season 8.

"It’s amazing to think that Chloe Sullivan and I have been one in the same for over a third of my life," says Mack in an exclusive statement to EW. "I’m truly humbled by the love and loyalty of all the fans whose enthusiasm has carried me — along with a cast and crew which has become my second family — over the past 9 and a half years. Out of respect for the amazingly loyal fans and the place I will always have in my own heart for Chloe, I’m coming back for several episodes next season to tie up Chloe’s Smallville legacy properly. It’s been a life-changing ride.  and I look forward to what lies ahead with the strength of a ‘superhero’ as my foundation."

What do you think, Maniacs? Are you ready for the final season of SMALLVILLE? Are you sad to see Mack go? Post your comments below...

C2F Quick Hits

  • MTV Splash Page talked with actor Jason Schwartzman about the recent reshoots on 'Scott Pilgrim vs The World'. He didn't have much to reveal other than that the movie is both "fantastic" and "amazing" in his unbiased opinion.
  • A posting on director Kevin Munroe's Facebook page reveals that he's locked the final print of 'Dylan Dog: Dead of Night'. "In one word: amazing. In two words: #$%@#ing amazing. Everyone did a great job," he enthuses about his film. He also promises news about a domestic distributor for the movie soon.
  • MTV Splash Page chatted up actor John Malkovich about his 'Jonah Hex' character Quentin Turnbull. The actor reveals that the character does not have supernatural abilities. The film arrives in theaters on June 18.
  • As a studio, Marvel is notoriously frugal with stories of them low-balling Terrence Howard, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Jon Favreau, Chris Evans, the state of California and, well, everyone it seems. The NY Post offers some insights into the architect of that spendthrift attitude, investor Ike Perlmutter. Indeed there's a case to be made that Hollywood's star system is out of control with Perlmutter and Marvel as the voices of sanity reigning in runaway eight-figure salaries.
  • If you're in a territory that hasn't seen 'The Losers' yet, Empire Online has you covered with new clips from the movie.
  • Latino Review have posted what are purported to be some behind-the-scenes spy photos of the stand-in miniatures for 'The Smurfs' movie. Presumably they're included in shots to show scale and placement to the CGI effects team.
  • Fans attending the New York Asian Film Festival will get a chance to see Takashi Miike's smash hit manga-based film 'Yatterman'. The film did gangbusters in Japan last year, but has yet to see a release in the U.S.

If you love the super-squishy, super-Saturday morning toon 'The Super Hero Squad Show', then you may dig the upcoming MMORPG based on the kid-friendly line. There's a new trailer below and a website for the game at Even better, while tangled TV rights have prevented him from appearing on the show, Spider-Man does appear in the game!

TRANSFORMERS 3: Megan Fox is Out

After a year of public contentiousness between actress Megan Fox and director Michael Bay, word broke from that Fox would not appear in the soon-to-lens 'Transformers 3' movie.

Fans will recall that Fox famously dissed Bay in an interview, referring to him as being "like Hitler." This lead to a mysterious "open letter" allegedly penned by three of Bay's crew on 'Transformers 2', enumerating a litany of bad behaviors ascribed to Fox on the set of that movie. The letter was posted on Bay's official site, before being pulled down and replaced with a more conciliatory statement from the director.

All seemed well for a time, but according to Deadline, Fox was at it again very recently, blaming Bay for coercing her into an unhealthy tanning regimen for the films.

This all may or may not have played into the decision not to include Fox in the sequel and the move has many declaring Fox's career dead, since she's had little success outside of the franchise that made her famous.

Paramount has confirmed for Variety that Fox will not appear in the movie but did not elaborate on the reasoning behind it. Variety's inside sources tell them that it's not due to the aforementioned public bickering.

Fox's camp has their own version of the story that they quickly put out to hours after the Deadline story broke. They also confirm the news and add, "It was her decision not to return. She wishes the franchise the best."

Bay has writer Ehren Kruger dusting up the script for the film and replacing Fox's Mikaela Banes with a new character. So who will play that character?

The Wrap was first out of the gates with casting rumors. They've pegged Gemma Arterton ('Prince of Persia') as the likely replacement. However, they also include a list of top models such as Bar Rafaeli, Miranda Kerr and Brooklyn Decker. Ain't It Cool also produced their own, completely different list of candidates, which is basically every bankable young actress out there. Their list includes Zoe Saldana, Hayden Panetierre, Vanessa Hudgens, Amber Heard, Camilla Belle, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Ashley Greene, Julianne Hough, Jessica Lowndes, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

What do you think, Maniacs? Is this the end of Megan Fox? Will you still see TRANSFORMERS 3 without her? Post your comments below...

Captain America - I could have sworn WWII took place in Europe maybe I was wrong and took place in Hollywood.

TF3 - Damn I was hopeing Megan Fox would have gotten stepped on by Megatron or Ravage would have used her as a chew toy.

Even though it will still be a steaming pile, Transformers 3 has automatically become better than the second one now that Meagan Fox has gotten the boot.

I actually think there is some credence to the idea that the frugal Marvel studios is the one of the more sane studios in Hollywood.  The amount it cost to make a movie is ridiculous, and one of the problems is the ridiculously high salaries they have to pay people involved.  Yes, you can argue that acting work isn't steady and they need that money to get them through off years, but most of us live quite comfortable lives with only a fraction of what the Hollywood stars make.  I *do* think the way they lock people into these 9 film deals for so little money is a tad shady, though; that's a major time commitment on the actor's part that could very well interfere with other, better opportunities for them.

axia777 5/20/2010 8:41:26 AM

Captain Amercia takes place in Europe during WWII?  NO WAY!  That is just crazy!  /sarcasm

No more Megan Fox?  Oh well, then they should just get rid of all the humans and move the movie back to Cybertron for one last all out war on the Home world.

Oh, and for the record, Bay is supposed to be a real dick of a director.  But then most of them are from what I have heard.

Wiseguy 5/20/2010 8:53:42 AM

I usually rant about filming here in the States but in Cap's case I'm ok with it. They were already going to do quite a bit of the filming over there for the war scenery so if it's that expensive to do another set up overhere it makes sense. Plus with the dollar strengthening so much it'll be cheaper to do it over there

I cans see GL saving Carol hence her comments. I really doubt that Star Saphire will make it into this film. Besides, even if they do I'd rather they stick to the original Sapphire

Smallville should have a bunch of great episodes next year as they wrap up the series. I'm hoping for a lot of superhero cameos along the way and one last big battle with Doomsday and Zod

There is such a thing as karma. I was very vocal about Megan Fox last year when her talentless ass started publicly taking shots at Michael Bay. I was hoping Bay would have her end up as a prostitute that got squashed by Optimus or somebody but this is much better. I will not pay for anything she's in so Jonah Hex won't get my money. I'll only be happy once she's blacklisted by all of Hollywood and she has to resort to Playboy or Penthouse to extend her 15 minutes. I hate to enjoy someone else's misery so much but what the heck, I'm pretty happy right now. Serves her right for talking so much smack about the guy who put her on the map, ungrateful skank ho

A word of caution to Shia, he recently was quoted as trying to lecture and criticizing Spielberg for Crystal Skull. First, you have not earned the right to talk down to the living legend that is Spielberg. And hopefully you'll take the Fox thing to heart. You're too easily replaceable to talk shi.t about anyone, especially Spielberg. Watch your step too

BryanWay 5/20/2010 9:20:52 AM

I think Shia LaBeouf is wringing his hands menacingly right now. Top models and bankable young actresses?

jedibanner 5/20/2010 9:32:57 AM

Here comes the Fox bashing for the next 100 post.....

She was ok but, it is true her acting talent has been limited to what the scrip and the story itself had. And she's not the first actor to mention Bay is hard and stuff. People hate her just because she talks a lot of real stuff and now the media has jump on the ''let's hate Fox'' wagon and it's pitiful.

Anyway, T3 will still be fun I'm sure.

pilgram 5/20/2010 9:37:59 AM

Best News for T3 yet.

99 more Fox bashing's to go.

Wiseguy 5/20/2010 9:45:25 AM

It ain't about talking real, it's about respect. When was the last time you saw someone like Tom Cruise, Will Smith or Bruce Willis talk shit about a director. These are guys who earned it but they have enough respect to handle stuff on the down low. The old saying applies best "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything". You want to be edgy and be out there, sure you'll make some fans but you'll also make some enemies. So be prepared to suffer the consequences along with whatever "street cred" you think your big mouth brings you, see Rourke for reference. I didn't really start hating Fox til she got all crazy talking smack about Bay, the guy who opened the doors for her. That says a lot about her.

fft5305 5/20/2010 10:13:34 AM

I don't care if she's talentless, or a moron. She's hotter than Hell!  She was half the reason I enjoyed the TF movies... But only half. So I'll still watch TF3.

Matador 5/20/2010 10:27:53 AM

Don't forget her loveable toethumbs!
