NBC has said no to
TRANSYLVANIA, the proposed TV spinoff of
VAN HELSING. Just nine months ago the peacock network thought
TRANSYLVANIA was a great idea and wanted at least six episodes.
VAN HELSING helmer Stephen Sommers had an idea about how to continue telling stories with the monsters and hunters and so the elaborate castle sets for his movie were held on to. Now it appears that the wrecking crew can move in and take them away.
NBC's story is that it's just too "expensive" to make a
TRANSYLVANIA TV series and it has nothing to do with the rapid drop-off of box office that
VAN HELSING is experiencing. While another network can always decide to swoop in and save the show, no one's stepped up to pick up the stake so far.
