TREMORS Graboid Maquette

By: News Editor
Date: Tuesday, January 24, 2006
Source: Sideshow Collectibles

Sideshow Collectibles and ADI have announced their reproduction of the original Graboid design maquette. It's based on the creature from the film, which spawned three sequels and a television series. The maquette was created by the effects company ADI, led by Alec Gillis and Tom Woodruff. Jr..

Each piece is reproduced in fiberglass and polystone, hand cast and painted. The piece is designed to display on any desktop or table, and also features wall-mount brackets for hanging display, like a hunter's trophy.

The item is priced at $399 and will ship in the second quarter of 2006.

You know... I've chosen to bite my tongue and not make sarcastic comments regarding the ridiculously priced figures that appear here. Collectors collect. That is a fact. People collect silly things. I collect silly things. I have ever Godzilla Plush that has been released so far.

But these are just too much. $400 for what basically looks like a wall mounted vagina. For $400 I’m sure you can find a comparable product that satisfies other uses then acting as a wall display.

But seriously, do people out there really have this kind of money to throw around on what seems like an extreme niche investment? After paying $400 dollars can it really appreciate in value that much? Or could someone truly love “Tremors” so much that they can justify the expense? I could understand the coolness of having something different and interesting up on a wall for maybe $25 to $50 bucks, but could someone please explain this to me?

Dam, you are right, $400 is too much for a wall hanging Vagina. As much as I love the Tremors movies, I could not justify $400 for that, nor would I hang it up. I would buy a nice dvd box set of Tremors, all 4 movies and the show, but not that.

now $50 and it sings like one of those singing fishes that you can get, that might be a different story.
