Flash Cast for Arrow

Glee star for the Speedster

We have all heard the news that The Flash would not only make appearance but get a back door pilot as well.  The big news is that the producers have found their Speedster. Glee’s Grant Gustin will play The Flash for three episodes of the CW’s Arrow

“Glee's Grant Gustin has landed the key role of The Flash/Barry Allen in The CW's backdoor pilot and potential Flash spinoff, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Gustin will play the iconic comic book character and appear in three episodes of The CW's Arrow -- eight, nine and 20 -- the latter of which will serve as the backdoor pilot for a potential spinoff Flash series”.

This back door pilot will be an origin story for the character. It will be interesting to see how the show runners handle their “powers” guidelines. The producers have said that their will be a world changing event to back up the story.

“Barry Allen is described a Central City assistant police forensic investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. A comic book fan boy, Barry is obsessed with the Arrow unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity to solve the crime has brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante”.

Arrow returns Oct. 9 on The CW.

My wife watched this show, he was a real prick in his part. But, maybe that was just good acting. Not a bad choice.

He seems to have the look I'd expect of a young Barry Allen.

I watch Glee with the wife and kids. The character he plays is SUPPOSED to be unlikeable so he played that part very well. I hope they do the Flash character justice.

Hmm...I remember an article when Arrow first debuted saying that they weren't going to have any other major heroes, especially ones will powers on the show.  I haven't been watching...has there been others as well???  Maybe this is an exception since its a sort of pilot?

well if that's the case and he's playing barry allen they better change his hair color....barry is a BLOND!!!!!

The Flash should be on the big screen, not on the pretty boy channel cw.

I'm optimistic considering it has been a long time since we saw the Flash on TV. I'm watching my old box set from the 90's series,  it had so much potential.

 Oh he's so dreamy! Squeal!

This is the primary reason in CW casting so I suppose they fulfilled that.  I  enjoy the Arrow show. It's kind of Dark Knight lite. I also know the intention is to integrate this into the DC movieverse which includes the new Superman and upcoming Batman. So that should answer questions about superpowers showing up.

I will enjoy how this develops as the new season progresses.

I'm wondering if they'll use this guy for the TV show then set up Wally West for JL rather than Barry Allen.  JL needs comic relief and this would be a great way to incorporate that into a JL movie.
