When Keisuke finds himself in a hospital ward, a sexy nurse brings him back to health--and the peak of arousal! 19-Year-old Keisuke gets a whirlwind education in the art of love from several enthusiastic ladies. Will they help him win the woman of his dreams? And will she mind some extra company? The Review!
Ah, more hentai-lite. This is a trend I'm enjoying. Well, with one exception on this disc at least.Audio:
For our primary review, we listened to this disc in English. Yeah, English. There's a Japanese language track included, but there's no subtitles, not even close captions. So we had to listen to it in English. The audio tracks are pretty decent with the majority of the dialogue driven show coming through the center channel. The few instances of music are about all that really make use of the left/right channels. Dialogue is decent, if somewhat low on a lot of the English track. We had to have the audio level several notches higher on our receiver to hear what a lot of the characters were saying.Video:
This is a fairly average transfer. While not an old show (originally done in 1998), it's not a high budget two episode OVA series. The animation is pretty mediocre with a few nice flairs of style that show through here and there, but this essentially leaves us with an average looking disc. There are a few nicks and a few hairs that show up on the print as well, bringing the grade down slightly. A little softness in a few places and some very minor low level artifacting that could very well be from the source material as well.Packaging:
This is a fairly ok cover, though it's amusing in that the three women didn't appear as shown at all through the episodes. The Japanese VHS covers, which are included in the DVD-ROM extras, are much lighter and more "normal" anime looking. The reverse side has a brief summary of the second episode (after all, nurses sell!) and a little more artwork as well as all the technical specs. The interior provides the chapter lists, cast listings for both languages and a few more pictures,Menus:
The menu system is typical CPM with all the selections on the left. Movement between selections and submenus is a bit slower than usual, but still decent. There's a bit of music and animation that plays along with the main screen. The only problem I really have with the menus and the trailers is the two "they're over 19 years old folks!" screens. I fully understand WHY these exist, I have no issue with that, but it's the fact that you cannot skip them and you can only scan past them if you hit it at the right place. Make these skippable!Extras:
The only real extra on the video side of the disc is the meet he characters section and the storyboards with streaming video showing the before and after pictures which are neat to watch. The DVD-ROM side has an image gallery that's mostly images from the show and a few other pieces including the full VHS covers for both tapes that were released as well as the usual culprits in script and cast/crew listings.Content:
(please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
With only two episodes created, there's not a heck of a lot of room for the show to really breathe. The show does seem to set the stage for more, but after three years I doubt we'll see more. But what we do have is fairly enjoyable and is something we're starting to see more of - non tentacle/demon oriented hentai.
The crux of the show is a "who likes who" scenario, hence the triangle. All these *cough* college kids have feelings for each other, some serious, some casual. The male lead, Keisuke, really really really likes Misa, a girl from another college who looks like the girl from La Blue Girl, complete with ribbon. Misa's kept away from life in general outside of school by her mother who has her attending post-college lectures and other classes. She comes from a very wealthy family.
Keisuke has a childhood friend in the form of tomboyish Rina. You just know Rina's got the hots for Keisuke. She doesn't really act on them, but she has a few moments of longing for him. Keisuke also has a male buddy named Toshiya. Toshiya's your typical studboy who gets all the girls he wants, and probably gets the luckiest throughout the show.
We also have Mimi, a large breasted girl whose really interested in Keisuke after he helped her out of a bad situation (with truly bad come-on lines by those jeering her). Keisuke really isn't interested in her though because of his longing for Misa, who after six months of admiring he still doesn't know her name. So he enlists the help of Toshiya to get him in with her a bit better.
Things take a turn though when Mimi pushes and asks Keisuke out on a date. Things go poorly when he doesn't show, which leads to Toshiya taking her out and promptly seducing her in a large aquarium tank.
Oh yes, there's also a nurse. Gotta get that fetish in there for folks.
As mentioned above, this is another non-tentacle and all consensual hentai show. We probably would have enjoyed watching this show more in Japanese. Keisuke's English voice actor as well as Rina's is pretty week. Toshiya really stole the show with a solid performance, much better than what we heard of the Japanese voice actor. We'll likely watch this again sometime without subtitles. This isn't a big breakout hentai title, but it's not bad either. Between the lack of subtitles and the shortness of it, those'll be the real downfall to selling it to the more hardcore hentai fan.
