TRICK 'R TREAT Release Slashed

Warner Bros. has done something which is drawing the ire of horror fans across the net. For reasons only known to them, they have bumped back the horror movie TRICK 'R TREAT from it's October 5th release date to some day in 2008. Nobody knows the reason behind the move from the studio and this film has been grabbing some decent reviews (for those who have screened it) inside the horror community thus far.

Story Premise: The movie is split into 4 stories all occurring on Halloween night. An everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the one guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; a woman who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband.

The film stars Bryan Cox, Anna Paquin, Dylan Baker, Leslie Bibb & Moneca Delain. Michael Doughtery directs it. No new date is scheduled for its release.

Maybe they think they'll play better in a season where it isn't expected for them to be in. Maybe till pop up for Valentine's day or something.

Sounds interesting. Are they worried about competition, or was there something wrong with the film?

If the film got decent reviews, maybe the studio thinks it will be better served by an extensive ad campaign, thus the bump.

This will be a cool movie me tinks, It is not very often where you get a good horror movie with like a Crash, Playing by Heart, Pulp Fiction feel. I am sure all the stories will intersect some how.

That is a bummer...one film I was really looking forward to seeing. Halloween in August and Trick or Treat in the Spring. Makes good marketing sense. Seriously, it would be nice if they released these types of films during the actual season.
