TRIFFIDS Music Online

While you're waiting for the long-delayed next volume in Monstrous Movie Music's series of newly recorded classic horror film music to finally appear, surf on over to their web site and taste a few tidbits from their recording of Ron Goodwin's superb score the the 1962 sci-fi film THE DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS that will appear on MMM's forthcoming CD, THIS ISLAND EARTH And Other Alien Invasion Films. The Music was performed by the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Slovakia (Bratislava), during the same sessions that produced their CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON CD. The TRIFFIDS suite was conducted by Kathleen Mayne.

"Much of Ron Goodwin's score was never heard in the actual picture," noted producer David Schechter, "instead being replaced by music composed by Johnny Douglas. The cue 'Spanish Square' that's heard on our site is one of the unused cues, and 'A Sight For Sore Eyes' was also altered in the picture -- what you hear on our recording is the original version that Goodwin wrote." The in-depth story behind this classic sci-fi score will appear in the book that will accompany MMM's eventual CD release, which regrettably does not yet have a release date. The TRIFFIDS music will join suites from THIS ISLAND EARTH, WAR OF THE SATELLITES, EARTH VS THE FLYING SAUCERS, and the album is slated to be released concurrently with MMM's MIGHTY JOE YOUNG and Other Ray Harryhausen Classics.
