Variety has confirmed AICN's reports that Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell are stepping into The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus role previously held by the late Heath Ledger. The deceased actor had shot some scenes for the 'Tony' character early into its shoot but director Terry Gilliam had to halt production when he passed away. The trade mentions that the three actors replacing him is an option due to the fantasy story device within the film, which has the character accessing a paranormal mirror in three seperate dimensions. Each of the actors will fill a spot for each dimension.

The upcoming fantasy also stars Christopher Plummer, Tom Waits, Lily Cole, Andrew Garfield and Verne Troyer. No word yet on when production will resume but it's still scheduled to hit theaters sometime in 2009.

Sounds like an interesting story concept, and IMO, looks like some good talent is stepping into the roles...although I'm not as crazy about Colin Farrell as I am about Johnny Depp and Jude Law. Johnny Depp usually chooses great movies (not counting the second 2 "Pirates" movies), and I've liked Jude Law a lot ever since "Enemy at the Gates" came out. Stellar performance if you've never seen it...and it's one of those movies that you can generally find in the $5 bin at Wal Mart right now, so do yourself a favor and get it.

Didn't this story pop up on cnn.com or Yahoo News like last week?

Holy Sh*t! What an awsome round up of actors to have come in and do this...This is the third different director Depp has worked with in what? like 10 years or so...Tim Burton is turning red in the face with Jealousy lol
Sportswarrior...So what's your point? I am just hearing about it here, so it's news to me...Are you saying it should not be reported because it is a week late? Anyways...
TKay...Your right...Enemy at the Gates is an awsome movie and it is funny that you bring up W-Mart because I hate that Sh*t hole store and never shop there but I was dragged along with a friend and found said movie in Bin but for $9.99 needless to say, I got it...So now I only have 99% hate for W-Mart...

mlaforcer - my point is you could have been reading about this at least a few days earlier if mania had been on top of the story... For the most part I read a lot of news here first, but I've noticed that mania has been breaking stories rather late at a higher rate than they used to... Other sites are beating them to it. When a major news site like cnn.com or Yahoo News breaks a story several days before mania even gets a whiff of a rumor then you know something's been missed.

Again, for the most part mania provides a lot of breaking news... but they've also been behind on more than a few stories, too.

sportwarrior...I wonder if that is due to the work that is going into the restructuring of this site, that might be a reason as to why news has been delivered late here...Who knows...I don't but then again, Uhh, well, who knows lol

THis is an awesome cast, but a shame Heath won't be in it.....I love Depp, Law is always good, and I am glad to see Colin Farrel back in the game.....he seemed like he was about to pop as an actor, then just kind of died out for a bit...maybe this will bring him back.....the concept does sound cool, and Gilliam does make good movies, althogh, I couldn't even sit through all of Brothers Grimm, but every director has their Gili.

I normally hate to be too negative on something like this but I've been steadily disappointed by most works Gilliam has been associated with since 12 Monkeys. I just have a bad feeling about this and it already sounds like is going to be a mess. Please, prove me wrong.

Is this like totally like the prequel like to like TIME BANDITS and stuff where they like do the origin of the evil in the like toaster oven thingee that Sean Connery ignores and like smiles at? Is it like that at all?

TKay42one • Feb 18, 2008, 02:31pm •
SONYMAN, would you PLEASE use the word "like" a few more times in your next post and make a little less sense? I'd REALLY appreciate it. What does ultimate evil in a toaster have to do with a mirror that exists in three separate realities? Or if you're just trying to poke fun at "Time Bandits", then you suck humongous rhino balls.

First off get a name that does not reflect a transvestite aboard an overhyped sci-fi TOY.
Do you like totally like get like what like I like am I like saying? Or are you like being like sarcastic like towards like me?

2nd-I love Time Bandits, Its awesome and holds up over the years and I will poke fun at it alot. If that bothers you well tough shit.
