Variety has confirmed AICN's reports that Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell are stepping into The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus role previously held by the late Heath Ledger. The deceased actor had shot some scenes for the 'Tony' character early into its shoot but director Terry Gilliam had to halt production when he passed away. The trade mentions that the three actors replacing him is an option due to the fantasy story device within the film, which has the character accessing a paranormal mirror in three seperate dimensions. Each of the actors will fill a spot for each dimension.
The upcoming fantasy also stars Christopher Plummer, Tom Waits, Lily Cole, Andrew Garfield and Verne Troyer. No word yet on when production will resume but it's still scheduled to hit theaters sometime in 2009.
