It looks like Harry Potter will do battle with TROLL once again. According to Bloody Disgusting, a remake of the old school cheeseball horror is being planned somewhere in Hollywood at this very moment. No official times, dates or distributors have been set but a Plot Synopsis has been released along with word that this will be a big budget affair.

Plot: The film is about a young boy (Harry Potter) enters a parallel world of wizards and magic where he befriends a good witch. Soon the boy learns that he must save the world from an evil Troll/Wizard that has the ability to hide his essence within the bodies of others.

The original TROLL (1986) starred Noah Hathaway( as Harry Jr), Michael Moriarty (as Harry Sr.), Sony Bono (as Peter Dickinson), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (as an Ivy covered Forest Nymph) and Phil Fondacaro (as Torok the Troll).

I loved this movie when I was younger. I rented it from Netflix about a year ago and although the cheesiness of it all was apparent I still had fun watching it.

If they don't try and take this movie to seriously it could be a fun remake.

I wonder if the kid's name will still be Harry Potter? Even though THIS Harry Potter came first, I can see a huge conflict of interest if he keeps the name.

Legal issues aside, I think it would be just too distracting to use that name now.

I hope they do keep the name. Especially if they had it first. That would be a nice "in your face."
As for the original - never heard of it.

The original was an off-beat fantasy favorite of mine as a child. Despite the 80s cheese I always thought it had a really good story to it. The Troll was a good characters. The sequel, on the other hand, Troll 2 (which has no Trolls in it), was horrible! I HIGHLY suggest you watch it, but with Mike Nelson's rifftrax for it. It's hilarious!

And I think they should keep the name. They had it first!

This is hilarious to me. I like the first movie well enough for what it is (a B movie), but does it really NEED remade? Was the story really that good that it should be told again?

Never seen the original. Usually I don't like remakes but just to see the Lawyer Trolls battle over the Harry Potter name ought to be worth it.

And I believe that will be the entire point, monkeyfoot. I suspect the intent here is not to make the film, but threaten to. Warners will not want to take the chance that a judge somewhere might rule that the character can keep his name, and if they don't want to call the filmmaker's bluff, they'll be best served to just offer up a wad of cash to stop production (if they're smart, they'll buy future rights as part of the deal).

I thought that picture was the little troll guy from the He-man movie with Dolph Lundren. Ugly SOB.
