Comments:
The financial and critical success of DreamWorks' GLADIATOR has brought back what Hollywood once thought long buried: the historical epic. With a commanding A-level cast and the director of THE PERFECT STORM behind the lens, there is every indication that Warner Bros. TROY will capture the attention of audiences.

Scoop Feedback:

April 11, 2003... Wolfgang Petersen has picked the face that toppled an empire. The director of TROY has selected German-born actress Diane Kruger to play the Queen of Sparta in the Warner Bros. movie set to begin filming on April 22.

Kruger has been a rising star in France, starring in MON IDOLE and the Luc Besson-scripted MICHEL VAILLANT, and she just completed working with Josh Hartnett in the thriller WICKER PARK. TROY also stars Brad Pitt as Achilles, Eric Bana as Hector and Orlando Bloom as Paris, the Greek prince who captures the heart of the fair Helen. [Sources: Variety, The Hollywood Reporter.]

June 5, 2003... The Z Review has 18 spy photos of Brad Pitt in costume on the set of TROY, Wolfgang Petersen's new movie now filming in Malta.

The images were taken by a photographer spying on the production while it filmed scenes on a beach. Pitt can be seen in full armor brandishing a spear and a shield while the camera swings around him. As well, there are other photos of a smiling Brad yakking on a cell phone -- still in his Greek warrior's get-up.

All of Z Review's photos are high res and can be viewed by checking out their exclusive right here.

[Thanks to Gary for sending us the alert!]

August 27, 2003... A great shot of Brad Pitt as Achilles in Wolfgang Petersen's TROY went up today at Dark Horizons. Pitt is decked out in full Spartan armor, running across a sandy battlefield, a couple of spears in one hand and a shield in the other. Girls, I'm jealous.

DH also has an interesting photo showing a door on the TROY production office that may indicate a title change could be in short order. The door simply reads "TROJAN WAR: TROY". While it doesn't mean for sure the film's title will rotate before its release next May, a source for the site also states that all communication from the office now bears the "TROJAN WAR" name. [Dark Horizons looks good in armor too.]

October 28, 2003... Latino Review has just landed the exclusive first look at Wolfgang Petersen's teaser poster for TROY, due out next May. Starring Brad Pitt, Eric Bana, Orlando Bloom, Sean Bean and Brian Cox, TROY tells the story of the war between Troy and Sparta two thousand years ago. The movie has been filming in England and Spain since the spring.

November 7, 2003... This obscure, almost forgotten website named Yahoo or something like that is running the exclusive first look at Wolfgang Petersen's epic film TROY, out in theaters next May. Starring Brad Pitt, Eric Bana, Sean Bean and other actors who don't have a total of eight letters combined in their first and last names (OK, maybe Brian Cox does, but Orlando Bloom, Brendan Gleeson, Peter O' Toole and Diane Kruger don't), TROY tells the story behind the Trojan horse and why Helen of Troy had a face that launched a thousand ships (which you see in the trailer, a nice touch.)

November 26, 2003... If you like your movie trailers in nice, crisp digital resolution, you'll be pleased to know that Apple has formatted the new trailer for TROY in QuickTime format. The trailer is available in four different size formats (small, medium, large and super-sized) for your eyeballs to caress.

February 2, 2004... Now that the Superbowl is but a fading happy memory (no thanks to Justin and Janet), Warner Bros. is keeping the buzz for its commercial for TROY going by placing the 30-second spot online. Interested viewers can hit the film's official website and download the spot to see new views of Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, Eric Bana and Sean Bean wielding swords and getting a nice tan under the Mediterranean sun. [Official website.]

March 5, 2004... Yahoo Movies is hosting the new trailer for Warner Bros. historical action-adventure film TROY, starring Brad Pitt, Eric Bana, Orlando Bloom, Diane Kruger and Sean Bean. Setting the stage for the conflict between the ancient kingdoms of Troy and Sparta, the trailer provides us with more reason to get excited, that is if scenes of armies laying siege and good-looking A-list Hollywood actors in form-fitting armor brandishing short swords, tridents and other weapons is your thing.
