At the Television Critics Association's press tour this week, HBO has officially confirmed they're bringing back True Blood for a season three. Gaining fan momentum on the network's Sunday night line-up, this second season has averaged 3.8 million viewers (11.2 when you add repeats, DVR and On Demand viewing).

A few weeks ago in an Entertainment Weekly feature story, Alan Ball indicated that he has a specific direction in mind for the third season but he won't go into the details yet with the current season still airing through September.

As part of the announcement, HBO also confirmed they'll be bringing back Hung for a second season and Entourage for a seventh. All three are expected to air next summer.

good news indeed

Agreed. Though Entourage has been getting on my nerves lately. Same material over and over.

That said, I can't wait for more True Blood. And this is after HBO burned me on both Rome and Deadwood. Don't burn me on TB!

TB has been so much better this season. I know the first season you have to establish characters and so on but it has been great thus far. They just need to get Lafayette out of his funk, he ain't the same unless he's being a smart mouth ho

Still loving Entourage, thouroughly and I like Hung also so I'm glad they renewed it. The show needs time to get its legs

Didn't HBO say they were picking up True Blood for two seasons after the first one was done?  Anyway, not surprised it's come back since it's getting more viewers and the the first season is doing well on the video front.

True Blood = awesomeness!

What's the matter with you Jarrod? Entourage is great, only thing it needs is more boobs being shown.

Glad to hear they're going to keep TB around. I've been enjoying this season so far.

But, like everyone else, I have to agree with everyone else about Lafayette needing to be his old self again. I enjoyed his smart-ass attitude in the first season.

HBO is by far the best out there as far as shows go......I'm stoked for tb season3..and their programing will only get better with season 2 of east bound an down(hilarious) the pilot for feast of crows from george r r martin, and what i've personally waited like for ever for the band of brothers followup The couldn't look any better in my opinion......

When is The Pacific going to air?  I haven't watched enough ads on HBO between programs/movies to see any previews if they've been airing them.  I've been looking forward to that like crazy!

hanso 8/1/2009 6:53:49 PM

Speaking of ads, the one with all the HBO characters interacting with different families is pretty sweet.

I don't think there is a date set for The Pacific, all it says is 2010.

I saw that ad.  Only problem was that it was missing was Ray from Hung.  I'm really enjoying Hung. It doesn't have the immediate, visceral impact that something like True Blood has, but it's really good.

Hanso, the writers for Entourage have become extremely lazy lately. I'm still watching the show but every Sunday after it ends, I find myself baffled that I'm putting aside 30 minutes to watch it. It's become repetitive and nearly all storylines going have been something we've seen in the first 5 seasons. It's like Ellins, Wahlberg and company are basically hammering down the point that Hollywood is a repetitive circle. If that's the case, they've hammered the point well. We get it...
